Her next film, ‘Deux fereshté (Two Angelic)’ was made available in 2003 and selected for the Semaine de la Critique award at the Cannes Film Festival. The Iranian government in the country also banned this film. She was awarded Best Actress Awards for ‘Eti’ in the movie Boutique at the Nantes Three Continents Festival and the House of Cinema Festival in Tehran (2003). She also won an award for her role in the film “Ashk-e Sarma (The Tear of the Cold)” at the Kazan International Film Festival 2004.

Farahani was part of several films including ‘Niwemang (Half Moon)’ and ‘Bab’Aziz: Le prince qui contemplait son âme,’ as well as ‘To Each His Cinema,’ all of which were banished in Iran. She appeared as ‘Aisha’ in the American thriller ‘Body of Lies.’ This film was heavily criticised in Iran too, and Farahani had to face the citizens of his home country with a great deal of hate. Golshifteh Farahani was born as Rahavard Farahani in Tehran on 10 July 1983. She is the daughter of the theatre director and actor Fahimeh Rahimnia and Behzad Farahani. During her childhood she went to a music school and graduated from the Azad University of Iran. In the French magazine ‘Madame Figaro’ Farahani appeared naked and ended up in her home country, Iran, in trouble. The authorities told her that she would not be welcomed back in the country and that the people of the country did not appreciate its artistic values.

Farahani also spoke about environmental issues and became an ambassador for tuberculosis fighting in Iran.
