Rosario The American actress, director, musician, graphic novelist and political activist Isabel Dawson. During her two-decade career, she has become one of the most versatile actors in the industry today. Dawson, a New Yorker, began her career as a youngster in the entertainment business. She debuted in 1995 in the adolescent drama ‘Kids.’ The short movie “Girls’ Night Out” and the sports drama “He Got Game” followed. In 1998, she featured in a movie entitled ‘Side Streets’ by Merchant Ivory. A few years later her breakthrough was played in the science fiction comedy “Men in Black II.” Over the following years, she depicted Naturelle Riviera in ’25 Hour’ by Spike Lee, ‘Alexander’ by Queen Roxana in Oliver Stone, ‘Sin City’ by Gail, ‘Rent’ by Chris Columbus by Mimi Marquez and ‘Becky’ Scott in ‘Clerks II’ by Kevin Smith. Dawson debuted on TV in 2007 and is now showing Claire Temple in a number of Marvel/Netflix TV series. As a comic writer, Dawson was part of a four-pronged ‘O.C.T.: Occult Crimes Taskforce’ comic book. She is a progressive left-leaning person who participates in several causes.

Rosario Dawson was born on May 9, 1979 in New York City, and is Isabel Celeste’s daughter and Patrick C. Harris’ daughter. Isabel, who is a Puerto Rican and Cuban writer and performer, gave birth to Rosario at the age of 16.
His mother married afterwards Greg Dawson, a building worker who not only named Rosario but reared him as his own daughter. She’s got a younger half-brother called Clay.

When Rosario was 5, her mother chose to relocate the family in an abandoned building on Manhattan’s lower eastern side. Together with her spouse she restored one of the flats and fixed the building’s plumbing and electrical wiring.

They constructed their own inexpensive home to raise their children. This experience taught Dawson the crucial lesson of life that “you have to do it yourself if you want anything better.” In an episode of the educational children’s TV programme ‘Sesame Street,’ Rosario Dawson had her debut TV appearance. At the age of 15, photographer Larry Clark and director Harmony Korine noticed her at the front porch. They came to her and said she would be excellent in Korine’s next movie for one part.

In 1995, Dawson made her debut in the independent Kids drama. When it was released it created a huge controversy with many people labelling it exploitative, verging on child pornography.

In 1997, she worked in the short film “Girls’ Night Out” and one year later, in “He Got Game,” she had the chance of sharing screen space with Denzel Washington. This was her first work with the well-known filmmaker Spike Lee.

In 1998, she also worked in her comedy-drama ‘Side Streets’ alongside Ismail Merchant and James Ivory. She featured in numerous modest films in the next several years that were not economically successful.

Dawson plays Will Smith’s love interest in the 2002 science fiction action comedy Men in Black II, Laura Vasquez. Tommy Lee Jones, Lara Flynn Boyle and Johnny Knoxville also played the second episode of the film series ‘Men in Black.’ This was Dawson’s first successful box office. Made on a budget of $140 million, the picture raised $441.8 million. It allowed Dawson to build a strong foundation in the business.

She also starred in 2002 in the critically praised film ’25th Hour.’ This was her second Spike Lee collaboration. Edward Norton, Philip Seymour Hoffmann and Barry Pepper were also starring in the picture and were a critical and financial triumph. It is frequently considered one of the greatest movies of the decade.

Dawson was cast as Andy Fox in the 2003 biographical murder thriller “Shattered Glass.” According to H. G. Bissinger’s September 1998 Vanity Fair piece, the film is focused on the rapid increase and sudden collapse of Stephen Glass’ journalistic career in ‘The New Republic’ during the beginning of the 1990s. While the picture was a failure of the box office, reviewers gained wonderful accolades.

Her next significant picture was “Alexander,” the 2004 historical epic in which she portrayed the Sogdian princess Roxana, Alexander’s wife, the Great. The film was a box office flop and the reviewers were not impressed. While the film was hailed by Western scholars for its historical accuracy, its eastern counterparts were far less forgiving.

In the 2005 neo-noir criminal anthologic film ‘Sin City,’ Dawson portrays Gail, the leader of prostitutes and the love interest of the character of Clive Owen, Dwight McCarthy. The film, directed by Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller, is based on Miller’s similarly named comic novel. ‘Sin City’ debuted at Mann National Theater on 28 March 2005, with a significant critical and financial success. The critics commended the picture for its new visual style and its spectacular effects. Dawson took over the role in the 2014 sequel to the film, ‘Sin City: a lady to kill for.’

One of Dawson’s most notable performances is Becky Scott’s comedy “Clerks II” in Kevin Smith in 2006. Smith makes numerous artistic modifications in the sequel, for example, while the original was shot in black and white in 1994. But like the original, ‘Clerks II’ has become a culte since its debut.

Dawson acted and produced the 2007 ‘Descent’ thriller. This is the first movie she has ever made. In 2008, she worked in the hit commercial picture ‘Seven Pounds’ again with Will Smith.

In the animated movie ‘Wonder Woman’ she provided her voice to the comic book character Artemis (2009). She will give her own voice later in the ‘Justice League: Throne of Atlantis’ (2015), ‘Justice League against Teen Titans’ (2016), ‘Justice League Dark’ (2017), and ‘The Death of Superman’ (2015) to Wonder Woman/Diana Prince.
