Benedict Wong received positive feedback for the subtle sense of humor he brought to the part of Wong in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and the stylish action ever since Wong debuted in the first Doctor Strange film. Since then, Wong has become a highly regarded supporting character. Since Spider-Man: No Way Home established Wong as the latest Sorcerer Supreme of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), many fans have indicated an interest in investigating what his new status implies for the series going forward.

Wong’s new role in the MCU was briefly alluded to in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. In this role, Wong is tasked with protecting Kamar-Taj from evil forces, such as the Scarlet Witch, who the Darkhold has corrupted, and leading the charge to train new sorcerers in the ongoing war to protect the Earth. In addition, Wong is to oversee the mission to safeguard Kamar-Taj. After the debut of Patty Guggenheim’s Madison, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’s Wong became the focus of audience members’ demands for a spinoff series, even though she was already a popular character due to the Beyonce-related gags that appeared in the first Doctor Strange film.

Due to the unexpectedly strong chemistry between the two actors that were cast together, many people have voiced their support for the idea of creating a show that would focus just on the two of them, much to how viewers demanded a Woo and Darcy spinoff that would revolve on Randall Park and Kat Dennings’ WandaVision characters. While fans wait to see whether their expectations for a solo MCU series come true and Wong’s ambitions for a solo MCU series, audiences may review the character’s stay in the franchise with both Doctor Strange movies.
