Booker, Robert Tio Huffman Jr. (born March 1, 1965) is an American professional wrestler, promoter, colorist, and colour commentator best known by his ring name Booker T. He is currently under contract with WWE. He is also the owner and promoter of the Texas City-based independent promotion Reality of Wrestling (ROW).
He is regarded as one of the greatest and most entertaining WWE wrestlers of all time. Booker is best known for his 35 titles in the World Championship Wrestling (WCW), the World Wrestling Federation/Entertainment (WWF/E), and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) organizations. He is the most decorated wrestler in WCW history, having won a total of 21 titles, including a record six WCW World Television Championships (along with becoming the first African American to do so) and a total of eleven WCW World Tag Team Championships: ten with his partner, Lash “Stevie Ray” Huffman in WCW (the most reigns within that company), and one with Test in the WWF.
WCW’s greatest ever tag team, along with The Steiner Brothers, was recognised by WWE as Harlem Heat. In 2001, Booker was the final WCW World Heavyweight Champion and WCW United States Heavyweight Champion under the WCW banner; sports journalist Michael Landsberg described Booker as “one of the best wrestlers alive” who could “wrestle any match, any style.” He was later described by industry veteran John Layfield as “the best acquisition that WWE got when they bought WCW.”
Booker is a six-time world champion in professional wrestling, having claimed the WCW World Heavyweight Championship five times and the WWE World Heavyweight Championship once.
With his fifth WCW Championship win (which happened in the WWF), Booker T became just the second African-American to win a world championship in WWF/E history (after The Rock), but the first to be of non-mixed race.In a WWE viewer poll in 2013, he was also voted the greatest World Heavyweight Champion.
Booker is also the 2006 King of the Ring champion, the sixteenth Triple Crown champion, and the eighth Grand Slam champion in WWE history (under the original format). Booker is one of the five men to win both the WWE and WCW Triple Crowns, becoming the ninth WCW Triple Crown Champion. Throughout his career, he has headlined numerous pay-per-view events for the WWF/E, WCW, and TNA. Longtime wrestler Kurt Angle said of Booker: “He’s done it all… he legitimately is one of the top five best of all time.”
On April 6, 2013, Booker’s brother, Lash, was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. On April 6, 2019, Booker and Lash were inducted into the 2019 Hall of Fame class as the Harlem Heat, making him a two-time Hall of Famer.
