Colm Joseph Feore OC, a Canadian actor, was born on August 22, 1958. He has an Order of Canada. A veteran of the Stratford Festival for the past 15 years, he is best known for his performance as Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau in the CBC miniseries Trudeau (2002), for which he won a Gemini award; his portrayal of Glenn Gould in Thirty-Two Short Films About Glenn Gould (1993); and his role as Detective Martin Ward in the films Bon Cop, Bad Cop (2006) and its sequel Bon Cop, Bad Cop 2 (2017).

Other roles he has played include Cardinal Della Rovere on The Borgias (2011–2013), Laufey in Thor (2011), General Ted Brockhart on House of Cards (2016–2017), Declan Gallard on 21 Thunder (2017), Wernher von Braun in For All Mankind (2019), and Sir Reginald Hargreeves on The Umbrella Academy (2019–present).In addition, Feore has been awarded the Prix Iris and the Screen Actors Guild Award, and he has been nominated for the Genie Award. Feore refined his acting talents as a member of the Acting Company at the Stratford Festival of Canada, which is the most prominent classical repertory theatre in North America. He performed in Stratford for 17 seasons and progressed from small parts to significant roles, such as Romeo, Hamlet, Richard III, and Cyrano.

In 2006, he made his comeback and starred in four different shows, including Don Juan in both English and French, as well as the role of Fagin in Oliver! More recently, in 2009, he portrayed the primary part of Macbeth in the play Macbeth produced at the Stratford Festival Theatre. In 2014, he played the central role of Lear in the play King Lear, and in 2009, he played the main part of Cyrano in the play Cyrano de Bergerac. In addition, he has performed in the role of Cassius in the Broadway production of Julius Caesar, which starred Denzel Washington in the role of Brutus.

In a performance of Hamlet that was shown off-Broadway at the Public Theater, he appeared as Claudius. Liev Schreiber was the play’s star.In Canada, Colm Feore is best known for his performances as Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau in the television miniseries Trudeau, for which he won a Gemini Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Dramatic Program or Miniseries; as classical pianist Glenn Gould in the 1993 film Thirty-Two Short Films About Glenn Gould; and as English Canadian detective Martin Ward in the box-office hit Bon Cop, Bad Cop.

In the second season of the Canadian television series Slings and Arrows, he also portrayed the character of a deranged marketing executive impostor. This was a role that he proceeded to perform for numerous episodes. The Sundance Channel has shown bouts of the program in the United States. Feore has played various roles in films, plays, and television shows in countries other than Canada. His supporting appearances in Hollywood movies such as “Pearl Harbor” may have contributed the most to his fame in the United States.

Paycheck, The Chronicles of Riddick, and The Sum of All Fears are the three titles. In the film adaptation of Stephen King’s novel Storm of the Century, released in 1999, he played the role of Andre Linoge, a powerful old magician. In the seventh season of 24, he played First Gentleman Henry Taylor. In the second season of The West Wing, he featured Tad Whitney in the episode “Galileo.” In the episode “Flight” from Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, he played wealthy suspect Jordan Hayes. During two episodes of Friday the 13th: The Series, he portrayed otherworldly killers.

In Windsor, Ontario, on June 8, 2002, Feore was presented with an honorary Doctor of Humanities (D.Hum.) from the University of Windsor. In acknowledgment of his achievements in the performing arts in Canada, Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario, presented him with an honorary Doctor of Letters degree (D.Litt.) in October 2012. The university is located in Ontario. In 2013, the National Theatre School of Canada bestowed Feore the Gascon-Thomas Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Theatre.

Each year, the prize is presented to a different actor who has been recognized for making an outstanding contribution to the development of the theater. In the same year, he was honored to be named an Officer of the Order of Canada (OC) “for his contributions as an actor of the stage and screen, most notably by bridging Anglophone and Francophone cultures as a fluently bilingual performer.”In 2019, the Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards honored Feore for his artistic achievement in film by bestowing him the Lifetime Artistic Achievement Award.

At the 9th Annual Canadian Screen Awards in 2021, he was awarded the Canadian Screen Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Sugar Daddy. Since 1994, Feore has married Donna Feore (née Starnes), a choreographer and theater director at the National Arts Centre and the Stratford Festival. His first marriage lasted from 1983 to 1994 and was to the actress Sidonie Boll, whom he had met while attending the National Theatre School. Feore is the father of three children: daughter Anna, who was born to his relationship with Donna Feore, as well as son Thomas, who was born to his ties with Boll.

Because Colm Feore does an excellent job portraying Reginald Hargreeves on “The Umbrella Academy,” it is always a bit of a shock to witness the disparity between the character and the actor. Reginald Hargreeves is one of the show’s most heartless and uncaring characters. Luckily, Feore is considerably more laid-back and kind than Hargreaves, who is harsh, demanding, and has no qualms about purchasing children.

This is not the first time we have been given a glimpse inside the acting process Feore goes through. Feore is a classically trained actor and has played many roles written by Shakespeare; an experience he considered necessary for his success in “The Umbrella Academy.” Even though he has worked on many traditionally nerdy projects (he even made a brief MCU stint as Laufey, the giant frost king and Loki’s father), Feore has worked on many roles written by Shakespeare.

To put it another way, Colm Feore may be just a more friendly version of his “Umbrella Academy” persona. The actor cares considerably more about other people than his fictional counterpart and is far less harsh when dealing with them. Sure, the two have tremendous discipline and attention when attaining their objectives, but the actor is also much less powerful than his fictitious counterpart. Colm Feore, Mary Walsh, and Peter O’Brian will be a part of several activities being hosted in remembrance of the late Canadian cinema legend in honor of National Canadian Cinema Day (which is on April 19). These events will take place both online and in theaters.

The Umbrellas must contend with new obstacles in this new season, such as their revived father, an apocalyptic Kugelblitz, and The Sparrow Academy. After the last season’s shocking conclusion, the new one began precisely where it left off. The most recent film to come out of the Stratford Festival, Richard III, will have its world premiere on April 16 at Cineplex theaters throughout Canada, with Colm Feore playing the title character. The film will have an encore showing on April 17. Shakespeare’s story about the perils of ambition is given a fresh interpretation in this production, directed for the stage by Artistic Director Antoni Cimolino and directed for the film by Barry Avrich.

Thanks to the movie, people from all across the country will have the chance to see the magnificent new Tom Patterson Theatre, which has received five significant architectural prizes. Cimolino states, “This play, with its ruthless, cunning, and charismatic protagonist, translates brilliantly to the big screen.” Shakespeare’s work has a highly cinematic framework, and the play in question has a particularly cinematic protagonist. “Colm Feore gives a masterful performance as Richard, and he is supported by powerful performances by some of our finest actors.”

Sean Arbuckle plays the role of Earl Rivers, Michael Blake plays George, Duke of Clarence, Ben Carlson plays Lord William Hastings, David Collins plays Lord Stanley (Earl of Derby), Jessica B. Hill plays Lady Anne, Diana Leblanc plays Duchess of York, Seana McKenna plays Queen Margaret, Lucy Peacock plays Queen Elizabeth, André Sills plays Duke of Buckingham, and Emilio Vieira plays Sir William Catesby. The cast also includes Sean Arbuckle.

“The historical Richard, like Shakespeare’s tyrant,” argues Cimolino, “was defeated and killed.” However, after his death, he was succeeded by a police state that was far more advanced, and it was under the control of governments that were both more ruthless and more adept at political manipulation. One example of this kind of modification may be found in the text of Richard III. On the other hand, it is also a provocative critique of dictatorship, demonstrating the methods employed to mislead and control.
