Dacre Montgomery was born in Perth, Australia, on November 22, 1994, to Scott and Judith Barrett–Lennard. His mother was from Canada, while his father was from New Zealand. Dacre had a deep interest in movies as a result of the couple’s employment together in the Australian film business. He spent his childhood going to movie sets and seeing performers perform in front of the camera.

His interest in acting compelled him to study it.Dacre was tormented a lot at school since he was a chubby child. His passion for acting gave him courage and motivated him to pursue his ambition of being an actor by performing in school plays. His parents were stern with him and wouldn’t let him near a television until he was a little older, afraid that it might harm his mental health.

He struggled in school and preferred to spend his time acting and participating in other extracurricular activities. He travelled to Vancouver with his parents when he was 12 years old and met an agent who encouraged him to reduce weight. Dacre took the advice to heart and embarked on a huge weight-loss programme. He began taking acting courses when he was 12 years old and attended the ‘Mount Lawley Senior High School.’

He continued his acting studies and soon joined the ‘Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in addition to working in school shows (WAAPA). He opted to pursue a bachelor’s degree from the ‘WAAPA’ after graduating from high school. It was a famous university with notable graduates such as Hugh Jackman, the Hollywood superstar.
Dacre began acting in short films and TV pilots long before he began his study at the ‘WAAPA.’

He began his acting career as a youngster, appearing in a few short films, including 2010’s ‘Bertrand the Terrible.’ He made his television debut in the pilot episode of the series Family Tree’ in 2011. Due to his educational obligations, he vanished for the following few years. He starred in the short film ‘Godot’s Clinic’ in 2015. He appeared in two indie feature films during the following two years, ‘Safe Neighbourhood’ and ‘A Few Less Men.’With two significant ventures, the year 2017 was a great success for him. He made his cinematic debut as ‘Jason,’ one of the major characters in the revival of the iconic kids’ show ‘Power Rangers.’

Dacre nailed the legendary character and didn’t allow his lack of experience to detract from his outstanding performance. For his role as ‘Jason, the Red Ranger,’ he was nominated for a ‘Teen Choice Award’ in the category of ‘Choice Movie Actor: Sci-fi.’In 2016, it was announced that he has been cast as ‘Billy Hargrove,’ an Australian bad guy in the popular Netflix series ‘Stranger Things.’

He joined the show’s cast as a regular role in the second season, and the cult series gained further praise for the cast’s performances. In terms of reviewers’ and users’ ratings, the second season outperformed the first.Dacre was nominated for a ‘Screen Actors Guild Award’ for ‘Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series,’ alongside the ensemble of ‘Stranger Things.’ In 2016, he starred in ‘Better Watch Out,’ an Australian–American psychological horror thriller.

For three seasons, the Perth-born actor portrayed scary bully Billy Hargrove on Stranger Things and previously told how the role affected his life.’It shifted the needle for my career, which I don’t take for granted in any way,’ he told Esquire Singapore in August 2020. ‘I consider myself quite blessed.’Producers enabled Dacre to portray the role in his unique way, according to Dacre.

‘The actors and crew were quite supportive of my efforts to reinvent the character,’ he stated.’Walking on set and feeling secure in those judgments was a huge step forward, especially later in the season when I found myself owning those creative decisions,’ she says. Even though his character was killed off in season three, the actor was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Drama Series last year.

Dacre went on to feature in the 2020 film The Broken Hearts Gallery opposite Geraldine Viswanathan, a fellow Australian, and Suki Waterhouse, a British model. He and his model girlfriend Liv Pollock reside in Sydney.Billy’s arrival in Stranger Things season 4 has been foreshadowed in episode titles, which would be just another evidence of the show’s big Barb problem. Stranger Things has written a few significant character death fakeouts, such as with Will and Hopper.

But the show has also killed off other key characters. Barb, Nancy’s best friend, was the first important character to die in Stranger Things season 1, followed by Bob in season 2 and Billy in season 3. While the deaths of Bob and Billy received a lot of attention on the program, the lack of attention paid to Barb’s death prompted fans to start a trend called “Justice for Barb.”

Netflix has revealed a breakdown of the titles for Stranger Things season 4’s nine episodes ahead of the final teaser trailer. “Dear Billy,” which will function as season 4’s chapter 4, was one of the coded titles. Billy, a major enemy in seasons 2 and 3, gave himself to the Mind Flayer in season 3’s conclusion to save Eleven, his step-sister Max, and the rest of Hawkins. Despite the fact that Billy’s redemptive death appeared to be the end of Dacre Montgomery’s tenure on Stranger Things,

the episode names for season 4 hint a comeback of the character in some way, whether it’s a flashback, vision, or other supernatural apparition.Billy’s Stranger Things season 4 comeback would be a thrilling event for viewers, but it would undoubtedly add to the notion that Barb is the series’ most underappreciated significant character. Barb only resurfaced as a corpse in the Upside Down in season 1 or in images in seasons 2 and 3 after her death in Stranger Things season 1, episode 3.

Barb was effectively removed from the story’s relevance when Nancy and Steve visited with her parents in the season 2 opener of Stranger Things. Barb’s lack of attention has been highlighted since the conclusion of Stranger Things season 1, but it’s more worse when you consider that the other two key characters taken off have gotten particular treatment in the seasons following their deaths.
