DDG was born on 10 October 1997, in Pontiac, Michigan, United States. He graduated from International Tech Academy as a class valedictorian. DDG released the single “Givenchy” from his debut EP, Take Me Serious, on November 23, 2017. On YouTube, “Givenchy” has over 25 million views. “Givenchy” was described by Complex as an album “Bout to Blow in 2018.” DDG launched Take Me Serious on March 17, 2018.

DDG was approached by major record labels after the release of Lettuce, and in June 2018, he signed a record contract with Epic Records. DDG released the single “Arguments” on June 1, 2018, and the RIAA certified it Gold on April 15, 2020.

Sorry 4 the Hold Up, DDG’s second EP, was released on March 22, 2019. DDG and Queen Naija collaborated on a music video for the EP’s single “Hold Up,” which has over 15 million views on YouTube.
