E. P. Jayarajan is a Kerala-based Indian politician. In the Pinarayi Vijayan Ministry, he is the Minister for Industries and Sports. He is a member of the Communist Party of India and was elected to the Kerala Legislative Assembly from the Mattanur constituency of the Kannur district. He finished his Electrical Engineering diploma.
E. P. Jayarajan was born on born May 28, 1950 in Irinave, Kannur, Kerala, India. His age is 68 years old. The name of his father is B. M. Krishnan Nambiar and the name of his mother is E. P. Parvathi Amma, He is married to Smt. P. K. Indira. He has two sons.
He was the General Manager of the CPI(M) party mouthpiece Deshabhimani and the first All-India President of D.Y.F.I. (Democratic Youth Federation of India). He was the President of Kerala Karshaka Sangham and a member of the Communist Party of India’s Central Committee (Marxist).
From 1991 to 1996, and again from 2011 to the present, he served in the Kerala Legislative Assembly. On May 25, 2016, he was sworn in as the Minister for Industries and Sports in Pinarayi Vijayan’s new Kerala Cabinet. Following claims that he named his own family members as heads of state public sector undertakings, he resigned on October 14, 2016, citing nepotism. The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) acquitted Jayarajan in the nepotism case in September 2017 and attempted to close the case.
Swapna Suresh, the key accused in the smuggling case, allegedly brokered a commission in the Life Mission project for Jayarajan’s son. According to the official, his son also held a lavish party for Suresh in a five-star hotel in 2018 to celebrate the settlement of his cheque case in the United Arab Emirates. He later appeared as an informant in the Life Mission project, which was financed by the Gulf-based Red Crescent to create free homes for the needy, and reportedly accepted commission, according to the official, who added that he would be summoned to learn more about Suresh’s involvement.
