The former martial artist, actress, and fitness model is Gina Joy Carano. She started her career as a Muay Thai fighter and was named ‘MMA Women’s Face.’ She has a fantastic Muay Thai record with 12 victories, a loss, and a draw. She is also the first American woman to win the Muay Thai title in Thailand. While growing up and excelling in school, she studied gymnastics, jazz, taping, ballet, and horse racing. She’s also trained and wrestled in Jiu-Jitsu.

Her MMA career includes seven victories and one loss. Due to her strength, skills, and techniques in the ring, her laid-back personality, and her beautiful looks, she became a big MMA star. She played in Hollywood blockbuster movies like ‘Haywire’ and ‘Fast & Furious 6’ as an actress. She was often criticized for using her sex appeal to move her career forward. These harsh words never affected her winning spirit and fans continued to shower her love. Because of her undeniable talent, strength, and determination, she is an inspiration to many.

Gina Carano was born on 16 April 1982 to Dana Joy and professional soccer player Glenn Thomas Carano in Dallas County, Texas (US). Gina has Italian ancestry and traces of German, English, and Scottish heritage. She has Casey, the older sister, and Christie, the younger sister. Although her parents divorced and her mother raised her mainly in her childhood, her father played an integral part in her education.

However, she dropped her studies during her last year to help her older sister in a crisis. At 21, she began training Muay Thai with Master Toddy on the advice of then-friend Kevin Ross.

After a coach from the Muay Thai gym, she started training hard, telling her that she was fat and had to lose weight. Master Toddy, a four-time World Kickboxing Champion, was impressed by her determination.

In his strong punches, deadly elbows, hard kicks, natural strength, and agility, the master saw potential. With his encouragement, she excelled in this sport and ended up in the ‘Fight-Club’ in San Francisco, victorious over women fighters. Her real success in sport, beauty, and personality attracted a large number of her fans. She also played an icebreaker role in Thailand for women boxers.

In June 2006, Jamie Levine invited her to participate in the first-ever women-sanctioned fight against Leticia Pestova, Mixed Martial Arts in Nevada. In the first round, Carano recorded a remarkable win within 38 seconds.

She knocked Rosi Sexton out in the last seconds of the second round of the World Pro Fighting show in Las Vegas on 15 September 2006. On 8 December 2006, she won the Triple Threat female fight over Elaina Maxwell at the first strike force. In the year following, she appeared as a mentor and won millions of hearts for her incredible work in the reality show “Fight Girls.”

In the first TV female fight in Showtime on 10 February 2007, she knocked Julie Kedzie flat in the second round. This roaring brawl was called ‘Fight of the Night,’ when the fans applauded the two women by ovating them.

In September 2007, she won the battle against wrestler champion Tonya Evinger with a rear-naked choke by using submission for the first time. In May 2008, Kaitlin Young was defeated at EliteXC: Primetime. She had forfeited 12.5% of her “show” money for Young to keep her fighting in the card as Gina did not meet the weight criteria of 140 lb of EliteXC.

She starred as “Crush” in NBC’s American Gladiators TV show the following year, which gained her more supporters. She appeared as an American commando and sniper ‘Natasha Volkova’ in ‘Command & Conquer Red Alert 3,’ a video game.

In October 2008, she stripped the weigh-in and managed to fight Kelly Kobold with success. She defeated Kobold by unleashing strong kicks and blows which eventually struck Kobold deeply. Carano won unanimously and devoted her grandfather to this victory.

In 2009, she made a cameo in Michael Jai White’s “Blood and Bone.” She also thanked ‘ESPN The Magazine – The Body Issue,’ which posed topless criticism and evoked criticism.

The greatest fight in the history of women’s MMA took place on August 15, 2009, in the middle of approximately 14,000 viewers in San Jose, California, bringing Carano’s MMA career to an end. Brazilian Cristiane ‘Cyborg’ Santos defeated Carano in the first round at Strikeforce’s first women’s championship. Carano also became the first female fighter to earn $100,000 in a single battle. In the 145 lb category, the Unified Women’s MMA rankings indicate that she was the world number 3. Gina never came back to the ring after her heartbreaking loss to Cyborg.
