Jungkook is a South Korean singer. He is the youngest member of the South Korean boy band BTS, as well as its vocalist. In 2011, Jungkook participated in the Daegu auditions for the South Korean talent programme Superstar K. Despite not being chosen, he received casting offers from seven other entertainment firms. After witnessing RM, currently his fellow band member and leader in BTS, perform, he decided to become a trainee under Big Hit Entertainment.
For the song “One Dream One Korea,” he teamed with other Korean artists as well as political figures. This song illustrates the connection between South and North Korea, as well as the desire for the two countries to unite. In 2012, Jungkook appeared in Jo Kwon’s music video “I’m Da One.”
Jungkook made his acting debut in the pilot episode of Flower Crew in 2016. He also made an appearance on Celebrity Bromance and participated in King of Mask Singer as “Fencing Man” in episode 72.
During the MBC Plus X Genie Music Awards on November 6, 2018, Jungkook performed “We Don’t Talk Anymore” with original artist Charlie Puth in an unique collaboration stage. He has already sung the song twice, once alone and once with fellow BTS member Jimin. As part of BTS’ annual debut festivities, Jungkook released the song “Still With You” for free on platforms like SoundCloud on June 4, 2020.
According to Google’s mid-year report, Jungkook was the most-searched male K-pop idol in 2019. He topped the ranking once more in 2020, and in 2019 and 2020, he was the most searched K-pop idol on YouTube. He ranked first in Tumblr’s ‘Top K-Pop Stars’ for three years in a row. He had the most retweeted tweet of 2019 and the second-most retweeted tweet of 2020 on Twitter.
In June 2021, a Justice Party legislator used photographs of him to support tattoo legalisation in South Korea, which is governed by laws. Netizens were outraged by the posts, accusing the lawmaker of exploiting Jungkook’s celebrity for political gain.
