Jai Ram Thakur is the 14th and last Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh. He is an Indian politician. He was elected the BJP legislature party leader on December 24, 2017, following the defeat of the BJP’s Chief Ministerial candidate, Prem Kumar Dhumal, in the November 2017 assembly elections.
Jai Ram Thakur was born on January 6, 1965, in Tandi village, Mandi’s Thunag district. He was the fourth of five brothers and sisters. His father’s name is Jethu Ram, and his mother’s name is Brikmu Devi. He used to work as a mason. Jai Ram Thakur, who grew up in extreme poverty, received his primary education at Kurani School.
He then completed his undergraduate studies (B.A.) at Vallabh Govt. Degree College in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, and his postgraduate studies (M.A.) at Punjab University in Chandigarh.
Thakur is married to Dr. Sadhana Thakur, an ABVP colleague, and they have two children. Sadhana is a doctor who was born and raised in Jaipur to a Kannada family. They have two daughters together. Both of my daughters are MBBS students in Himachal Pradesh. Elder is currently enrolled at RPGMC Tanda, while younger was accepted into SLBSGMC Ner Chowk in 2018.

State Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha from 1993 to 1995, President of the State Bhartiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha B.J.P. District Mandi from 2000 to 2003, Vice President of the State BJP from 2003 to 2005, and President of the State Bhartiya Janata.
From Chachiot Assembly Constituency, which was renamed Seraj after the delimitation, he was elected to the State Legislative Assembly in 1998 and re-elected in 2003 and 2007. Chairman of the General Development and Education Committees, as well as Vice-Chairman of the State Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd.
He was appointed to the Council of Ministers in 2009, with the portfolio of rural development and panchayati raj. Before being inducted into the Council of Ministers as Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Minister on 09-07-2012, he has served as Chairman of the Rural Planning Committee and as a member of several other House Committees.
In December 2012, he was re-elected to the State Legislative Assembly for the fourth time. The BJP secured a two-thirds majority in the 2017 Assembly elections, but its Chief Ministerial candidate, Prem Kumar Dhumal, was defeated in the Sujanpur assembly district.
Jai Ram was the favourite for the top job because of his good RSS ties and political profile, and he was selected to lead the state. He was the first Chief Minister from the Mandi district, and he is now Himachal Pradesh’s 14th Chief Minister.
