Today I will tell you about HOW TO CONTACT JUSTICE RANJAN GOGOI?
Justice Ranjan Gogoi is an Indian parliamentarian and former Supreme Court judge who served as the country’s 46th Chief Justice for 13 months between 2018 and 2019. On March 16, 2020, President Ram Nath Kovind recommended him to the Rajya Sabha.
Ranjan Gogoi was born on 18 November 1954, into a Tai-Ahom family who lived in Dibrugarh’s K.C. Gogoi Route. The royal family of Tai-Ahom Chao Pha Purandar Singha can be traced back to his mother’s side, in addition to his paternal family. His father, Indian National Congress politician Kesab Chandra Gogoi, was the Chief Minister of Assam for two months in 1982.
Gogoi went to Dibrugarh’s Don Bosco school before moving to Delhi to finish his pre-university studies. He then went on to St. Stephen’s College in Delhi, where he earned an honors degree in history before enrolling in the Faculty of Law at the University of Delhi, where he earned a law degree.
In an interview with the Times of India, his brother Anjan Gogoi, the ex-Air Marshal of the Indian Air Force, admitted to this detail.
Gogoi started studying law in 1978 and was appointed a Permanent Judge of the Gauhati High Court on February 28, 2001. On September 9, 2010, he was moved to the Punjab and Haryana High Court, where he became Chief Justice on February 12, 2011. On April 23, 2012, he was named to the Supreme Court as a Judge.
He was appointed Chief Justice of India on 3 October 2018, succeeding Dipak Misra. On October 3, 2018, President Ram Nath Kovind gave Justice Ranjan Gogoi the oath of office as Chief Justice of India at a swearing-in ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. President Ram Nath Kovind elected him to the Rajya Sabha on March 16, 2020, and he took his oath on March 19, 2020. He is one of 63 people in India who are covered by the Central Reserve Police Force’s Z plus security shield.
A judicial panel headed by Gogoi and R. Banumathi noted that in the absence of an arbitration arrangement, the court can only refer parties to arbitration with their written consent. This should only be done through a joint memorandum or application, not through counsel’s oral agreement.
In May 2016, a bench consisting of Gogoi and Prafulla C. Pant overturned a 2012 Bombay High Court order that denied the CIT the right to reassess Amitabh Bachchan’s supposed profits from the iconic TV show Kaun Banega Crorepati.
Bachchan filed tax returns in October 2002, indicating a total income of Rs 14.99 crore for the tax assessment year 2002-03. On March 31, 2003, he filed amended accounts, reporting gross profits for that year of Rs 8.11 crore, with 30 percent ad hoc expenditures of Rs 6.31 crore. His revenue for the year was estimated to be Rs 56.41 crore by the Income Tax Department in March 2005.
The Supreme Court, headed by Gogoi, dismissed Advocate Kamini Jaiswal’s petition for a Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigation into the attacks on Kanhaiya Kumar, the Jawaharlal Nehru University student union chief, on 15 and 17 February 2016 at Patiala House Court as he was escorted to courtroom in a sedition case, on 24 January 2018.
On December 17, 2014, a bench consisting of Justices Ranjan Gogoi and Rohinton Fali Nariman ordered the Indian government to complete the finalization of the revised NRC for the entire state of Assam by January 1, 2016.
Ranjan Gogoi and four other Supreme Court judges handed down their decision in the Ayodhya Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute case on November 9, 2019. The five-judge bench unanimously decided in favor of granting the property to the Hindu community to establish a temple in the spot where the mosque stood and was destroyed by miscreants earlier after 40 days of regular hearings beginning on August 6. This was his last event until he resigned on November 17th, 2019.
