Manoj Tiwari is an Indian politician, actor, and Singer. He is currently a member of the North East Delhi constituency in Parliament. He ran for Gorakhpur Lok Sabha in the 2009 general election as a candidate for the Samajwadi Party but was defeated by Yogi Adityanath.

Manoj Tiwari was born in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, on February 1, 1971. Chandra dev Tiwari and Lalita Devi have six children together. He was born and raised in Atarwalia, a small village in Bihar’s Kaimur district. Banaras Hindu University awarded Tiwari his M.P.Ed. degree.

Tiwari and Ravi Kishan were the top male stars in the booming Bhojpuri film industry in 2005, according to the BBC, and Tiwari paid about US$ 90,000 per film. He was a contestant on Bigg Boss 4 in 2010. In the film Gangs of Wasseypur, Manoj Tiwari sang “Jiya Ho Bihar Ke Lala Jiya Tu Haazar Sala.”

Tiwari ran for the Samajwadi Party in the Gorakhpur seat of the 15th Lok Sabha election in 2009. He was given the choice of three constituencies and told Zeenews that he was not a “partisan guy” but was concerned about the growth of Uttar Pradesh’s Purvanchal district. Yogi Adityanath triumphed over him.

In November 2009, an enraged mob reportedly assaulted his Mumbai home over comments he allegedly made about the Shiv Sena. The charges against Tiwari were refuted by Tiwari.

Mid-Day announced in January 2011 that the BJP was considering inviting him to join the party, claiming that his presence would help them win votes from North Indians. Tiwari discounted the story as fictitious, but if an invitation came his way, he would weigh his choices. At a function, he was seen with BJP leaders and expressed appreciation for BJP MP for Patna Shatrughan Sinha.

In the 2014 Indian general elections, he defeated the BJP in North East Delhi. With a margin of 1,44,084 votes, he beat Anand Kumar of the AAP. He is a BJP candidate, won the North East Delhi constituency of New Delhi by 3.63 lakh votes in the 2019 general elections, defeating Indian National Congress candidate Sheila Dikshit.
