Marshmello is the stage name of Christopher Comstock, an electronic music DJ and producer from the United States. Christopher Comstock, better known by his stage name Marshmello, was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on May 19, 1992.

Christopher has over 18 million TikTok fans, 45.7 million YouTube subscribers, 7.3 million Facebook fans, 2.3 million Twitter fans, and 30 million Instagram fans as of August 2020.

Marshmello began his career by freely sharing songs on the music site SoundCloud. The more he wrote, the more he was noticed: Skrillex also reposted one of his songs on his SoundCloud account at one point. He started giving live performances throughout the United States. With his successful remixes of songs by American DJ duo Jack Ü and Russian-German DJ Zedd, the DJ rose to prominence.

For the majority of his career, the DJ went unnoticed. In a 2017 profile, Forbes revealed his true identity as Christopher Comstock. Many people had assumed Christopher was Marshmello up until that point.

The singer and producer released his debut album, “Joytime,” in January 2016, which included the hit single “Keep It Mello” and the platinum-certified “Alone.” Monstercat, a Canadian record label, released the album.

He followed up the album with a string of hit singles, including “Chasing Colors,” “Twinbow,” and “Moving On.”

Marshmello collaborated with famous artist Khalid the following year to release his hit single “Silence,” which went platinum and multi-platinum in many countries.

The single “Wolves,” which he co-wrote with Selena Gomez, became one of his most famous songs to date.

In 2018, he released “Friends,” a collaboration with British singer Anne-Marie, and later that year, “Joytime II,” his second studio album. “Tell Me” and “Check This Out” were two of the album’s most successful songs.

The DJ’s highest-charting album to date, “Happier,” was released later that year. The collaboration with Bastille, a British band, charted on Billboard’s Hot 100.

Marshmello has increased his social media presence in addition to his DJ work. Across all social media networks, he has tens of millions of followers.

In the shows “Gaming with Marshmello” and “Cooking with Marshmello,” the DJ has expanded his YouTube presence to include not only music videos, but also cooking and gaming videos.

To broaden his business and revenue sources, his reps are creating a kid-friendly brand that includes Halloween costumes, snack foods, cooking shows, and even an animated kids series.

Forbes named Marshmello as one of the highest-paid DJs in the world in 2017. He gained $21 million between June 2016 and June 2017.

Marshmello was widely assumed to be Chris Comstock, an American DJ identified as Dotcom at the time, by May 2016, despite his name being unknown.

Marshmello played at the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas on June 19, 2016. Marshmello and Dutch DJ Tisto tried a gimmick in which the latter, who was dressed in the same clothes as the former on stage, removed his helmet and presented himself as Marshmello. Owing to their overlapping tour dates and a picture of “the two helmeted DJs hanging out together pre-show,” it was later seen as a publicity stunt by fans and the media.

He announced the Ritual Tour on Twitter, and from late September to early January the following year, he performed in a number of countries, including the United States, China, South Korea, India, and Paraguay. The tour was followed by his debut on Skrillex’s Owsla label, which included the single “Ritual,” which featured vocalist Wrabel.

In over 28 countries, the album charted in the Top 200. It topped the Dance charts in Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States, as well as more than fifteen other countries, including Germany, Sweden, and Norway. It also charted in Hungary, Denmark, Austria, Belgium, and the Netherlands at the end of the year. It was also certified multi-platinum in a number of countries. Platinum went to BPI and BM, double platinum to BEA (Belgium), RMNZ (New Zealand), and RIAA (United States), triple platinum to MC (Canada), quadruple platinum to SRIA (Sweden), and quintuple platinum to ARIA.

Later that year, he released the single “Wolves,” a collaboration with American singer Selena Gomez, which was a commercial success, reaching the top 10 in more than 20 countries.

It topped the Latvian, Polish, and Hungarian charts, as well as the Billboard Dance/Electronic Songs chart. It was also his highest-charting Billboard Hot 100 album in 2017, reaching the Top 50 in more than 50 countries and selling more than 2.5 million certified units. The album was certified gold in the UK, Germany, Portugal, and Denmark, as well as multiple platinum in Brazil, Sweden, Canada, and Australia, while only achieving single platinum certification in the US, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, and New Zealand.

Following “Wolves,” Joytime Collective released the single “You & Me,” which was followed by an animated music video created and directed by Toon53. The video was uploaded to his YouTube channel three weeks after the song was released, and as of December 2018, it had over 42 million views.

In November, Forbes published an article confirming Christopher Comstock as the person behind the Marshmello project, citing evidence such as his real name being revealed in BMI’s database and Marshmello’s company being registered in Delaware under Comstock in August 2015. Industry insiders have revealed to Forbes that the two are the same male.
Marshmello took the stage at Airbeat One 2018 to sing.

Marshmello’s posthumous collaboration with rapper Lil Peep, “Spotlight,” was released in January 2018. He only agreed to release the single after speaking with Peep’s mother, who had demanded that as much of her son’s unfinished musical work as possible be released. Marshmello collaborated with regular collaborator Slushii on the song “There 2,” which was released as a single a month later.

As the fifth single from Anne-debut Marie’s studio album, Speak Your Mind, he released “Friends,” a collaboration with British singer Anne-Marie. Until October 2018, the song was his highest-charting song on the Hot 100, peaking at number eleven. It was also certified single-platinum in Belgium, Germany, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States, as well as a double-platinum in Australia and a triple-platinum in Canada.

Marshmello revealed on Twitter on June 19 that his second studio album, Joytime II, would be musically similar to his first. According to Rolling Stone, “every song sounds like it has already been pre-leased for use by energy-drink firms or extreme-sports squads,” and Marshmello’s decision to not include guests is disappointing. The magazine gave the album a ‘one-and-a-half star’ rating, while Pitchfork gave it a 4.2 out of 10 rating. The album’s two singles, “Tell Me” and “Check This Out,” were released in June. the latter of which was followed by the release of an official music video a few months later.
