N’Golo Kanté, a central midfielder for Chelsea and the France national team, was born in France on March 29, 1991. Kanté, who is considered by many to be one of the world’s best midfielders, is admired for his work ethic and defensive prowess. Kanté, who was reared in Paris by Malian parents, began working at JS Suresnes at eight and remained there for ten years. According to assistant manager Pierre Ville, Kanté’s small stature and selfless playing style kept him off the radar of major clubs.

Around this time, he was rejected by the school of Clairefontaine. In 2010, when Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger declined the opportunity to recruit Kanté, the head of Suresnes chauffeured Kanté around various clubs. He joined the Boulogne reserve squad and made his professional debut on May 18, 2012, in the final match of the Ligue 2 season at home against Monaco. During the last eleven seconds, he replaced Virgile Reset.

In 2013, he joined Caen of Ligue 2 and appeared in all 38 games as they finished third in the league and were promoted to Ligue 1. In his second game, on August 9, he scored his first goal to equal the score in a 2-1 victory at Laval. In a 3-2 win at Istres on April 11, 2014, he scored his second-season goal to square the game. Steve Walsh, who had previously assisted Leicester City in acquiring Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy, scouted Kanté for the Premier League club. He was designated to succeed Esteban Cambiasso.

On August 3, 2015, he signed a four-year contract with Leicester for an undisclosed price, rumored to be €8 million.  On November 7, he made his Premier League debut in a 2-1 home victory against Watford. Kanté reportedly signed a £32 million, five-year contract with Chelsea on July 16, 2016. Arsenal allegedly withdrew from the arrangement due to agency fees over £10 million, opting instead to sign Granit Xhaka.

As a result of differences over how agency funds should be divided, Kanté allegedly received death threats, which he later denied. After Ramires’ departure in January, the number 7 jersey has been empty. Kanté was given the number 7 jersey. According to Football Leaks, Chelsea offered to place a portion of the cash into an offshore account to avoid paying taxes. In response to Kanté’s refusal, N’golo’s attorney emailed that his client “just desires a respectable salary.”

Kanté made his professional debut against West Ham United on August 15, 2016, the first game of the year. After collecting a warning in the first three minutes of the encounter, he performed admirably in the second half to help Chelsea win 2-1. Three months after relocating to London, he faced Leicester City for the first time, and in a 3-0 victory, he was named Man of the Match.

On October 23, he scored his first goal for Chelsea in a 4-0 home victory over Manchester United. Mali contacted Kanté, born to Malian parents and had never played for France in their youth teams before the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations. Kanté was denied due to his continued efforts to establish himself in Ligue 1. Kanté received a second invitation from Mali in January 2016, despite his statement that he was still undecided about which national side he would represent should France need his services.

Kanté was initially selected for the France senior team on March 17, 2016, when they faced the Netherlands and Russia in friendlies. Eight days later, he debuted against the former in a 3-2 triumph at the Amsterdam Arena, replacing Lassana Diarra at halftime.

Kanté made his competitive debut on June 10, 2016, as he started France’s opening match against Romania. He played the entire game, assisted on Dimitri Payet’s game-winning goal, and led the team in passes, tackles, interceptions, and the ground covered. Kanté collected his second yellow card of Euro 2016 against the Republic of Ireland in the round of 16 at Parc Olympique Lyonnais. He was substituted by Kingsley Coman in the 46th minute with the French down 1-0 and facing a ban for the quarterfinals. Kanté was not utilized in the final match, in which Portugal won 1-0 after extra time.

On May 17, manager Didier Deschamps added him to the French squad of 23 for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. He participated in all seven of France’s tournament contests. On June 26, in the group stage’s final encounter against Denmark, he was chosen man of the match. On 15 July, he started for France against Croatia in a 4-2 tournament triumph. L’Équipe ranked Kanté sixth among all football players worldwide on December 26, 2016.

Kanté was named the game’s most valuable player and scored the lone goal in Chelsea’s FA Cup quarterfinal victory over Manchester United on March 13, 2017. Kanté was named to the PFA Team of the Year for the second consecutive year on April 20. Eventually, he was named Premier League Player of the Season, FWA Footballer of the Year, and PFA Players’ Player of the Year.

Kanté became the first player since Eric Cantona in 1993 to win consecutive English Premier League titles with two clubs.  On May 19, 2018, he defeated Manchester United in the FA Cup final, playing for 90 minutes and collecting a medal.

As Leicester went on to win the 2015–16 Premier League, his numerous tackles and interceptions were widely regarded as crucial to the team’s success. He was one of four Leicester players chosen for the PFA Team of the Year in April. After the 2015–16 Premier League season, Kanté dominated the defensive statistics with 175 tackles and 157 interceptions. The following season, Kanté appeared in 37 games as Caen remained in the top flight; his sole absence was due to suspension after being sent off against Rennes on August 30.

Three weeks earlier, he scored the team’s first goal of the year in a 3-0 triumph at Evian. He recovered the ball more frequently during the season than any other European player. Throughout the 2012–13 season, he competed in the third-tier Championnat National, missing only one game. He scored his first goal as a senior on August 10 at the Stadium de la Libération, the lone goal in a victory over Luzenac, and he added two more during the season.

The year after, he spent the entire season in the third division. Then, he joined Caen for free in Ligue 2, finished third, and was promoted to Ligue 1. He remained a club member for another year. Kanté joined Leicester City for £5.6 million in 2015. Kante joined Chelsea with a Premier League championship title and eight international appearances. He was named for the 2016/17 season’s opening game, a home victory over West Ham.

In the first part of the 2016-17 season, Kante was a fixture for Antonio Conte’s club, picking up where he had left off at Leicester. In October 2016, he scored the decisive goal in a memorable victory over Manchester United. In January 2017 away draw at Anfield, he made 14 of the 16 tackles he attempted. This match exemplified his intensity and contribution. The second-best player that evening won three games.  He became the 18th player in history to win both accolades in the same season.

Notably, he started 35 of the 38 games in which Chelsea reclaimed the Premier League championship. He is the only player to win consecutive Premier League championships with two separate clubs. 1980 saw the migration of Ngolo Kante’s parents from Mali to France in search of greener pastures.

Kante was born as the oldest sibling of four. He developed a sense of duty at an early age. The death of Ngolo Kante’s father left his mother with the arduous task of parenting. Early in the 2017-18 season, he scored the game-winning goal against his previous team, and his value was only highlighted when he missed a month in the fall due to an injury sustained on international duty.

On his return and after some problems, he helped the club defeat Manchester United with a stunning home victory. Even though the team occasionally suffered around him, Kante’s play in the second part of the season remained high. He was one of our top performers in both legs of our last-16 Champions League encounter against Barcelona, particularly at Camp Nou. He was instrumental in our run to the FA Cup final.

Before the Wembley final, the Chelsea faithful elected Kante our Player of the Year for the 2017-18 season. Then, he concluded the season in the finest way possible, starring in midfield once more as we shut out Manchester United to win his first FA Cup. Kante began life under Maurizio Sarri in a new position, further forward on the right side of a three-man midfield. The results were apparent as he broke the deadlock in our opening-day victory against Huddersfield.

Kante was named to the FIFA FIFPro World XI in September in recognition of his efforts for both club and country. In November, it was revealed that he had signed a new five-year contract at Stamford Bridge, committing his long-term future to Chelsea.

Early in December, the Frenchman scored the opening goal in a resounding victory over Manchester City. Later that month, he scored the lone goal in a win against Crystal Palace. He scored again in January against Tottenham to help us reach the Carabao Cup final, which we ultimately lost on penalties to Manchester City despite another outstanding performance by Kante. He came as close as anyone to breaking the deadlock, too.

Kante was typically reliable as we clinched a top-four finish. Still, a hamstring injury against Watford in our penultimate league game put his starting spot in the Europa League final in doubt. Thankfully, he overcame his injury to start against Arsenal in Baku and led us to a decisive victory.
