Rajat Sharma is the Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of India TV and an Indian journalist. He is best known for hosting and creating the TV show “Aap Ki Adalat.”
Rajat Sharma was born in Delhi’s Sabzi Mandi on February 18, 1957. He grew up in a tiny Delhi room with his six brothers and one niece. He attended Ramjas School in Karolbagh for his studies.
He studied at the train station at night as a boy because they did not have access to electricity. He told the audience in an interview that he went without food for several days as a teenager. He went to Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) for his higher education and then entered the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad.

During a flight to Delhi in 1992, he ran into Zee TV’s Subhash Chandra, and it was during a casual chat that the idea of Aap Ki Adalat was born. The first episode of Aap Ki Adalat, which aired on Zee TV in 1993, featured Lalu Yadav, the former Chief Minister of Bihar. Rajat Sharma has interviewed over 750 guests on his channel, and Aap Ki Adalat recently celebrated 21 years on the air, making it India’s longest-running television show. He also hosts India TV’s prime-time show Aaj Ki Baat.
He was a member of the Delhi Cricket Association’s Board of Directors. The Government of India awarded him the Padma Bhushan for his services to journalism.
