Ram Pothineni is an Indian film actor known for his work in Telugu cinema. He made his debut with Devadasu (2006), the winner of the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut – South. His films consist of Ready (2009), Kandireega (2011), Pandaga Chesko (2015), Hello Guru Prema Kosame (2018), and iSmart Shankar (2019).
Ram Pothineni was born on 15 May 1988 in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. His father’s name is Murali Pothineni, and his mother’s name is Madhu Smith Pothineni. He’s got a brother and a sister. He is the nephew of the filmmaker of Telugu, Sravanthi Ravi Kishore. He’s unmarried.
2006–2010: Debut and early career
Pothineni firstly starting working in the Tamil-language short film Adayaalam (2002). Then he was an 18-year-old drug addict. He made his theatre debut with Devadasu in 2006. His second film, Jagadam in front of Monalisa, was directed by Sukumar. He then worked in Ready alongside Genelia D’Souza, directed by Srinu Vaitla. It was his commercial success. He had two launches in 2009, Maska and Ganesh: just Ganesh. Rama Rama Krishna Krishna was released by Pothineni in 2010. It was produced by Dil Raju and directed by Srinivas.
2011–2016: Ups and downs
Pothineni’s next movie was Kandireega (2011). Later, he gazed at the Endukante… It’s Premanta! (2012) besides Tamannaah, directed by Karunakaran and produced by Sravanthi Ravi Kishore. In 2013, Pothineni appeared in Ongole Githa with Kriti Kharbanda, directed by Bhaskar, produced by B.V.S.N. Prasad. In the same year, he starred alongside Venkatesh in the action-comedy Masala. It is the remake of the Hindi film Bol Bachchan, directed by K. Vijaya Bhaskar and produced jointly by Sravanthi Ravi Kishore and D. Suresh babu.
In 2015, Pothineni worked in two movies, Pandaga Chesko and Shivam. Pandaga Chesko was directed by Gopichand Malineni. There was a commercial success during Pandaga Chesko. Shivam ended up as one of the largest failures of his career. In 2016, He had two releases, both produced by his own production house Sri Sravanthi Movies and Nenu Sailaja which was a commercial success, and Santosh Srinivas-directed Hyper which failed at the box office.
2017–present
His 2017 coming-of-age movie Vunnadhi Okate Zindagi received mixed reviews. In 2018, he started working in the romantic comedy Hello Guru Prema Kosame directed by Trinadha Rao Nakkin. In 2019, he worked with director Puri Jagannadh on the iSmart Shankar action thriller. Pothineni tasted the success of the film after a series of flops. It earned over 90 crores, his career’s highest grosser.
His upcoming film is Red, where he appears in a dual role, is a remake of Thadam’s Tamil film (2018).
