On April 28th, 1966, Todd Anthony Shaw, better known by his stage as Too Short, was born. He was born in Los Angeles, California, in the United States of America. With a Billboard R&B/hip-hop chart peak of 12, “The Ghetto” from Short Dog’s in the House (1990) briefly entered the Hot 100’s Top 40.
In 1992, Shorty the Pimp and Get in Where You Fit In were both platinum sellers. However, by the time Cocktails was released in 1995, Too $hort had become overshadowed by a wave of similar-sounding West Coast rappers, and by late 1996 he had decided to depart. In 2011, he released a new album, Can’t Stay Away, which debuted at No. 10 and was certified gold three years later. When Too $hort returned in 2006, he did so with a vengeance, releasing four albums in the following four years and scoring a huge hit with Lil Jon’s Blow the Whistle produced title track.
After the 2007 release of Get Off the Stage, Too $hort was able to reclaim his freedom. To date, he has put out four albums on his Dangerous Music imprint: Still Blowing, No Trespassing, Hella Disrespectful: Bay Area Mixtape, and The Sextape Playlist. Finally, in 2019, he released his 21st studio album titled The Vault to close out the year. Ain’t Gonna Do It/Terms & Conditions, which he and fellow Bay Area veteran E-40 worked on the following year, was his first major label release. In addition to Larry June and Guapdad 4000, the tape featured guest appearances by Freddie Gibbs, G-Eazy, and many more.
