Too Short is Todd’s full name. Anthony Shaw’s tracks include Blow the Whistle, The Ghetto, and Ain’t Nothing Like Pimping. Since the beginning of his career, Todd has collaborated with 2Pac and The Notorious B.I.G.

On April 28th, 1966, Todd Anthony Shaw, better known by his stage as Too Short, was born. He was born in Los Angeles, California, in the United States of America. He was born and raised there until the 1980s, when his family moved out. In the United States of America, they established a residence in East Oakland, California. In addition to his grandfather, both of his parents worked in the accounting field. Tod’s mother worked for the IRS for over a quarter-century. Since then, she hasn’t worked for the company.

Too Short was known as “Too Short” in high school. His high school was Fremont High School. It was during his stay in Chicago that he started making rap tapes with his companion Freddy B. His wife, Erica Escarcega, has been his wife from the year 2000.

Custom songs, often known as special requests, constituted the bulk of Too Short’s output in the 1980s. His debut album, Don’t Stop Rapping, came out in 1985. He and Freddie B. created the Dangerous Music label in the same year. As part of a rap group, the two founded the Dangerous Crew with others.

Life Is…Too Short was released in 1989. Among the artists with whom he collaborated were Notorious B.I.G., Pimp C, Tupac Shakur, and Scarface. “Life After Death” was his most significant performance in the Notorious BIG’s album collection. For their 1999 album Dirty Werk, TWDY included him in the song Player’s Holiday.

By 1999, Too Short had amassed an album output of eight. Just a few examples include Get in Where You Fit In, Can’t Stay Away, Born to Mack, and Cocktails. There were other Too Short albums released in the 2000s, including What’s My Favorite Word? and Get off the Stage, as well as You Nasty and Chase the Cat. The other two are Still Blowing and No Trespassing.

The Dangerous Crew and Todd Rundgren have worked together on two albums. Dangerous Crew and Don’t Try This At Home, respectively, are the titles of these films from 1988 and 1996. In 2012, he released History: Function Music and History: Mob Music, both of which he co-wrote with E-40. It was in 2010 that Too Short released Respect the Pimping, an EP. At Up All Nite Records, he’s the man in charge. Prior to that, there was Dangerous Music, followed by Short Records, and finally the aforementioned label. Artists like Boo Ski and Dolla Will have been linked to it. One of Too Short’s most notable roles has been in the movie Menace II Society and Get In Where You Fit In. When it comes to pornography, he has worked in the field before. So far, he’s released 19 albums, and a 20th is on the way. The estimated worth of Too Short is $20 million.

Before signing with a major label in 1988 and releasing the RIAA-certified gold Born to Mack, Too $hort was one of the earliest West Coast rap artists. Aside from the occasional social message single, he restricted his lyrical subjects to vivid tales of sexual prowess and street life, foreshadowing many later gangsta occurrences. In the years since his death, he has remained a famous figure in hip-hop thanks to productions like 2020’s E-40 collaboration Ain’t Gonna Do It/Terms and Conditions, as well as his obscene rhymes and sparse instrumentals.

Rappers like 2Pac, Notorious B.I.G., and Jay-Z are indebted to him because he is the only rapper who has worked with all three. As soon as he and his family moved to Oakland in the early 1980s, he began selling tapes out of the back of his vehicle. First official album Don’t Stop Rappin’ was released on 75 Girls in 1985. Prior to launching his own Dangerous Music label with Freddy B, Too $hort released two albums.

In 1987, he published the album Born to Mack, which went on to sell over 50,000 copies just by riding around the area. New York’s Jive Records took advantage of the widespread interest and reissued the album a year later. Life Is…Too Short, the follow-up to Born to Mack, earned platinum by 1989 despite receiving little radio airplay. $hort’s popularity in the underground and widespread distribution made him ready for radio play. With a Billboard R&B/hip-hop chart peak of 12, “The Ghetto” from Short Dog’s in the House (1990) briefly entered the Hot 100’s Top 40.

In 1992, Shorty the Pimp and Get in Where You Fit In were both platinum sellers. However, by the time Cocktails was released in 1995, Too $hort had become overshadowed by a wave of similar-sounding West Coast rappers, and by late 1996 he had decided to depart. In 2011, he released a new album, Can’t Stay Away, which debuted at No. 10 and was certified gold three years later. When Too $hort returned in 2006, he did so with a vengeance, releasing four albums in the following four years and scoring a huge hit with Lil Jon’s Blow the Whistle produced title track.

After the 2007 release of Get Off the Stage, Too $hort was able to reclaim his freedom. To date, he has put out four albums on his Dangerous Music imprint: Still Blowing, No Trespassing, Hella Disrespectful: Bay Area Mixtape, and The Sextape Playlist. Finally, in 2019, he released his 21st studio album titled The Vault to close out the year. Ain’t Gonna Do It/Terms & Conditions, which he and fellow Bay Area veteran E-40 worked on the following year, was his first major label release. In addition to Larry June and Guapdad 4000, the tape featured guest appearances by Freddie Gibbs, G-Eazy, and many more.
