Anushka was born on November 7, 1981, in Mangalore, Karnataka, India. She is currently living in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. Her nickname is Mac. Career
She graduated from Mount Carmel College, Bengaluru. She has a degree in Bachelor of Computer Applications. After completing her studies, she worked as a yoga teacher and received training under Yoga instructor cum husband of actress Bhumika Chawla, Bharat Thakur. She also posted some of her yoga videos on YouTube.
Her yoga guru Bharat Thakur suggested that she try her luck in the entertainment industry. She began her acting career in 2005 by playing the role of Sasha in the Telugu film Super, directed by Puri Jagannadh. In the same year, she had another leading role in Telugu’s Mahanandi film, which was moderately successful.
In 2006, she made her Tamil debut with Sundar C.’s film Rendu. She also made her special appearances on many Telugu tracks, such as I Wanna Spider-Man from Stalin (2006), Nuvvu Ready Nenu Ready from King (2008), and Kedigaadu from Kedi (2010). As of 2018, she has worked in five bilingual films released in Telugu and Tamil languages, such as Baahubali: The Beginning (2015), Size Zero (2015), Oopiri (2016), Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017), and Bhaagamathie (2018).
One of her Telugu films, Arundhati (2009), became the second-highest ever-growing Telugu film. She has won many awards for this film, including the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Telugu, the Nandi Special Jury Award, the CineMAA Award for Best Actress, the Ugadi Award for Best Actress, the Santosham Best Actress Award, the South Scope Cine Award for Best Actress, and the Vamsee Film Award for Best Actress. The film was later dubbed in many different languages, such as Malayalam, Tamil, Oriya, and Hindi. The film has also been remade in the Bengali language with the same name.
