Sean Michael Leonard Anderson, better known as Big Sean, is a famous American rapper. Sean has been showered with accolades when he first entered the music industry, including multiple MTV Music Awards and several BET Awards. He is now under contract with GOOD Music and Def Jam, both of which are owned by Kanye West. He has put out four albums as of this writing and has been influenced by the likes of Eminem and Kanye West. His debut proper mixtape was titled “Finally Famous: The Mixtape.” His first proper studio album, 2011’s ‘Finally, Famous,’ was published by GOOD Music and Def Jam Recordings and catapulted him into the public eye.

The album was a commercial success, peaking at #3 on the Billboard 200 and selling 87,000 copies in its first week in the United States.  Earning the top spot on the US Billboard 200 chart was a huge accomplishment. The end consequence is that he’s been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Rapper Sean was arrested in August 2011 after a teenage girl falsely accused him of sexual assault. Sean was given a $750 fine for his guilty plea.

Myra Anderson’s parents are Myra and James. Sean was reared by both his mother and his grandma. From an early age, he was taught by his parents the importance of not giving up and working hard.

He started his educational career at the Detroit Waldorf School and stayed there through eighth grade. Next up on his musical journey was high school at Cass Technical. His musical talents also won him many fans and friends, as well as the respect of his coworkers. In 2005, as he was being interviewed on 102.7 FM, he met Kanye West and gave him a freestyle. West was initially hesitant, but he began to like the notion. In 2012, as a result of Sean’s collaboration with West, West signed Sean to his record company, GOOD Music.

The music video for the song was also directed by Hype Williams. After the success of his debut mixtape, BIG, in 2008, he released UKNOWBIGSEAN and Finally Famous Volume 3: BIG in August of 2010.

Nielsen SoundScan reports that the album was a commercial success, peaking at No. 3 on the US Billboard 200 and included contributions from Kanye West, Wiz Khalifa, and Rick Ross. A total of 87,000 copies of the album were sold in its first week in the US. In September 2011, rumors circulated that he was working on his second studio album. First single “Mercy” from the album came out in April of 2012. The song was well-received and reached the top ten on several charts, including the US Billboard 200.

When his second album, titled “Hall of Fame,” was released in August of 2013, it was long overdue. In the first week of its release in the United States, it sold 72,000. The vast majority of critics had positive things to say as well. His third studio album, entitled “Dark Sky Paradise,” came out in February of 2015. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, joining the ranks of Kanye West, Ariana Grande, and Chris Brown. It also did well financially. As of December 2015, 350,000 copies had been sold in the United States alone.

Together with Jhené Aiko, he dropped a new album in April 2016 titled “Twenty 88.” The album reached #5 on the US Billboard 200. Reviews were mostly good, and audiences responded positively as well, making it a commercial success.

I Decided, Sean’s fourth album, was released in February of 2017. As well as being one of the best-selling albums in US Billboard history, it also received rave reviews. In August of that year, Big Sean dropped his album “Hall of Fame.” The album’s top-selling singles were “Fire” and “Beware,” and it reached at No. 3 on the US Billboard 200. The album peaked at #10 on the Canadian albums chart and #56 in the UK. It was a major commercial success, selling 72,000 copies in its first week in the United States alone. Majority of reviewers gave it high marks.

Dark Sky Paradise, Sean’s third album, was released in February 2015 and is widely considered to be one of his finest achievements to date. Songs like “Dark Sky,” “Blessings,” and “Play No Games” helped push the album to the top of the Billboard 200 in the United States. Not only did it reach the top three in Denmark, but it also peaked at number 28 on the Australian Albums chart. Even in its native New Zealand, it peaked in the top three. The album was well received critically in addition to its economic success.

In 2016, Big Sean and Jhené Aiko dropped a studio album titled Twenty88, which they co-wrote and -performed together. The album was so well received that it peaked at #5 on the Billboard 200. Songs like “On the Way,” “Selfish,” and “Talk Show” helped the album quickly become a commercial success, selling 40,000 copies in its first week. It reached its highest position in Canada at number 28, and in the United Kingdom at number 69. The responses were mostly positive.

Big Sean, a rapper from Detroit, found the same spark that propelled artists like the Notorious B.I.G., Kanye West, and Eminem to sell millions of albums worldwide. Sean’s debut studio album, Finally Famous, has been a smashing success since he signed with Def Jam offshoot GOOD Music in 2011. From his first album in 2000 through his fifth album, Detroit 2, which was published in 2020, he had a string of chart-topping successes.

Detroit-based rapper Big Sean, who was born in California but raised in Detroit, signed with Kanye West’s GOOD Music label in 2007. West offered Sean a recording contract after hearing him perform in the studio, and the two worked together to create his 2007 debut mixtape, Finally Famous, Vol. 1. Sean had originally met West through a hip-hop radio station in Detroit. After the success of the second book in 2009, a third was published in 2010.

In 2013, Good Music released Hall of Fame, which featured appearances from Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Nas, and Miguel. The album peaked at No. 3 on the Pop Albums chart. Dark Sky Paradise, released in the beginning of 2015, featured contributions from Kanye West, John Legend, Lil Wayne, Drake, Ariana Grande, and E-40. The album’s eleventh pop single, “I Don’t Fuck with You” (also known as “I Don’t Mess with You”), debuted at number one and was certified platinum.

2016 saw the release of Big Sean’s “Bounce Back,” following his appearances on several successful singles, including DeJ Loaf’s platinum “Back Up,” Cruel Winter’s standout “Champions,” and DJ Khaled’s “Holy Key,” which peaked at number ten on the Billboard rap charts. The following year, their album TWENTY88 along with Jhené Aiko topped the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. In the first few months of 2017, Sean’s fourth studio album, I Decided, debuted at the top of the Billboard 200. He was featured on “Feels” by Calvin Harris, “Miracles (Someone Special)” by Calvin Harris and Coldplay, and “Feels” by Pharrell Williams and Katy Perry. At the year’s close, he recorded a joint album with Metro Boomin titled Double or Nothing.

Big Sean said in late 2018 that he will be releasing new music for the first time in two years, with two singles set for release in the summer of 2019 before the release of his next full-length, currently titled Detroit 2 and scheduled for April 2020. The album’s lead song, “Deep Reverence,” was released that August. Just a few days after the first song, which featured the late Nipsey Hussle, the follow-up track, “Harder Than My Demons,” was released. Detroit 2 debuted at number one on the charts in the month of September. After that, in 2012, Big Sean and producer Hit-Boy joined together to create “What a Life.”
