How to Meet Sabyasachi Mukherjee Personally and Face to Face

Sabyasachi Mukherjee is a Kolkata-based Indian fashion designer, jeweller, retailer, and couturier. He has been selling designer goods under the Sabyasachi label since 1999. Mukherjee is the youngest board member of the National Museum of Indian Cinema and one of the Associate Designer Members of the Fashion Design Council of India. Guzaarish, Baabul, Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, Raavan, and English Vinglish are among the Bollywood films for which he created costumes.

Sabyasachi Mukerjee participated at India Fashion Week in 2002 and received great press coverage. He debuted on the international catwalk in the spring of 2003, winning the “Grand Winner Award” at the Mercedes-Benz New Asia Fashion Week in Singapore, which led to a workshop in Paris with Jean Paul Gaultier and Azzedine Alaia. He utilised unbleached and hand woven textiles with Kantha and other hand embroidery in his Lakme Fashion Week 2003 show “Kora.”

With a bohemian twist on Indian textiles and a collection named “The Frog Princess,” Sabyasachi took a stride forward with Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week and The Miami Fashion Week[5] in 2004. His notable accomplishments include a coveted showing in Browns, which earned him a retail spot at the modest London boutique ranked the top shopping destination in the world by Vogue, positioning him as one of the most promising young designers for years to come.

Hand block printing, embroideries, bagru designs, and the heavy use of cotton and other hand woven textiles inspired his spring-summer 2005 collection, “The Nair Sisters.” Browns & Selfridges in London sold the range. His creations were invited to be shown at the famous Oxford University yearly black tie charity dinner fashion show.

He creates beautifully handmade bridal gowns and items that are meticulously built. The designer is known to take inspiration from the broader globe on occasion, much to the joy of his worldwide audiences, such as exotic, indigenous ethnic European art and the colorscapes of French impressionists like Monet and Henry Matisse in his outfits.

He was the first to employ high-end luxury Indian fabrics in a contemporary setting. His contribution was the application of traditional processes in the building of modern silhouettes, such as bandhani, gotawork, block printing, hand dyeing, and so on. Sabyasachi is particularly well-known for his Indian bridal wear.
