Chae Hyung-won is better known by the stage name Hyungwon. He is a singer, model, and DJ from South Korea. In 2015, he made his debut in the South Korean boy band Monsta X on Mnet’s survival show No. Mercy. In 2017, he debuted as a DJ under the stage name DJ H.ONE.

Hyungwon was born on January 15, 1994, in Gwangju, South Korea.

Hyungwon collaborated as a fashion model for multiple fashion shows, including the W Hotel and Ceci Fashion Show in 2014, prior to his debut in Monsta X, while still a trainee at Starship Entertainment.

He debuted in the new hip hop boy group, Monsta X, after competing in Mnet’s survival show, No. Mercy, starting in December 2014.

Hyungwon Career:

2015–2019: Monsta X, DJ work, and other solo activities:

Hyungwon made his Monsta X debut in 2015 with the release of their first EP, Trespass.

Hyungwon appeared in K.Will’s music video “You Call It Romance” in 2016, and his performance was praised for giving the video a drama-like atmosphere.

The following year, in 2017, Hyungwon made his official acting debut in the KBS2 drama Please Find Her. Jeon Ik-Soo was played by Hyungwon as a supporting actor.

In 2017, Hyungwon debuted as a DJ under the stage name DJ H.ONE, with his first single, “BAM!BAM!BAM!”, co-written with DJ Justin Oh and featuring fellow groupmate Jooheon. He and Justin Oh also performed together that year at the “Ultra Music Festival Korea” (UMF) and at KCON Japan 2017. He released a single titled “1(One)” as part of his effort on the show Mix and the City, with Justin Oh as producer.

 

In 2018, he appeared at UMF once more. After meeting at UMF, he released “My Name (feat. Talksick)” in July as a collaboration with Dutch DJ Jimmy Clash.

On July 10, 2019, Hyungwon released the song “Cool Love” in collaboration with VIXX’s Hongbin and producer Dress for Pepsi’s The Love of Summer: The Performance.

2020–present: Expanding in songwriting:

Hyungwon

Hyungwon contributed to the writing, composing, and arranging of the song “Nobody Else” for Monsta X’s album Fatal Love in 2020. He worked with Justin Oh once more on the track, and it is the first time he was engaged in every aspect of the song’s production. The song was noted for demonstrating Hyungwon’s musical range when composing music, as it was stylistically distinct from his EDM tracks as a DJ. The song peaked at number ten on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart in January 2021.
