Kushal Pal Singh is an Indian billionaire real estate developer, and the chairman and CEO of real estate developer DLF Limited, founded by his father-in-law Chaudhary Raghvender Singh. DLF has an estimated land bank of 10,255 acres with about 3,000 acres in Gurugram, called DLF City.
Singh’s personal wealth is estimated at $6.1 billion as per the 50 richest in Asia in Forbes 2017. He was ranked 8th richest person in the world in 2008 in Forbes. His autobiography, entitled Whatever the odds: The Amazing Story Behind DLF, was published in 2011; Jack Welch spoke at the launch. According to the 2019 Forbes India Rich List, he is the 25th richest Indian.

Early Life and Career:
K.P. Singh was born in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, on 15 November 1931. His father, Chaudhary Mukhtar Singh, was a well-known lawyer in Bulandshahr. After graduating in science from Meerut College, Uttar Pradesh, he pursued aeronautical engineering in the UK and was subsequently selected to the Indian Army by British Officers Services Selection Board, UK. He was commissioned into the Deccan Horse in 1951. He joined the American Universal Electric Company in 1960 and, shortly after its merger with DLF Universal Limited in 1979, took over as Managing Director with Chaudhary Raghuvender Singh.
Personal Life and Family:
Singh was married to Indira Singh, the daughter of Raghvendra Singh, the founder of DLF Limited. K. P. Singh has a son, Rajiv Singh, and two daughters, Renuka and Pia Singh.
Singh’s son, Rajiv Singh, is the vice president of the DLF group. Rajiv’s wife Kavita became a consultant to DLF Commercial Developers Ltd in November 2002. She was also named Advisor to DLF Universal Ltd. on 1 June 2011, with a retention fee of Rs 250,000 per month and other benefits.
Rajiv and Kavita had two daughters, both of whom worked for the company. K. P. Singh’s eldest daughter Renuka is married to G.S. Talwar, a non-executive director of DLF Ltd. Their son, Rahul, joined DLF India Ltd as “Senior Management Trainee.” K.P. Singh’s younger daughter Pia Singh is a full-time DLF director.
Activities:
Kushal Pal Singh designed numerous earthquake-proof office buildings, flats, shopping malls, and leisure facilities in Gurgaon. As chairman of DLF, the company made an initial public offering ( IPO) in 2007 and raised around US$ 2.24 billion, one of the largest IPOs in India. The company’s market capitalization rose to $24.5 billion, making Singh and his family one of the richest clans in the world. Jack Welch, former chairman and CEO of General Electric, said in an interview that Singh was one of the initiators of GE’s entry into India.

5. The Delhi Ratna Prize, awarded to the Government of Delhi for its significant contribution to the growth of Delhi.
6. A special award by NDTV at the Indian Year Award Event held on 17 January 2008 for its contribution to the development of the Indian economy.
7. In 2011, he was awarded the Entrepreneur of the Year award at the Asian Awards.
Controversy:
In April 2016, Singh’s name included a collection of 11.5 million confidential documents produced by Panamanian corporate service provider Mossack Fonseca in the list of high-profile names published in the Panama Papers. Singh’s son, Rajiv Singh, his wife, his daughter, Pia Singh, and her mother, Timmy Sarna, all set up offshore companies in the British Virgin Islands via Mossack Fonseca, and they are named in the Panama Papers.
