Rajnath Singh is a politician in India. He’s from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He has held a number of leading political posts, including the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and the Union Home Minister of India. At present, he is Minister of Defense of India in Narendra Modi’s cabinet.

Rajnath Singh Biography:

Rajnath Singh was born on 10 July 1951 in the village of Bhabhaura, Chandauli, Uttar Pradesh. His zodiac sign is Cancer. He did his primary education at the local Bhabhaura School, UP. He did his post-graduation in Physics at the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur.

After his post-graduation, he began working as a Physics lecturer at the K.B. Mirzapur Post Graduate College in Uttar Pradesh. Rajnath Singh has been strongly correlated with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) since the age of 13. He liked the RSS ideology, and even when he worked as a lecturer, he worked for them. Rajnath Singh held a number of important posts in the RSS.

Rajnath Singh is a member of the Hindu Rajput family. His father’s name is Ram Badan Singh. He was a farmer. His mother’s name is Gujarati Devi. She was a householder. He’s married to Savitri Singh. The couple is blessed with three children, two sons, Pankaj Singh (Eldest; Politician) and Neeraj Singh (Younger), and a daughter, Anamika Singh (Youngest).

Career:

Rajnath Singh’s political career began in 1969. He became Secretary of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP; student wing of the RSS) Gorakhpur Division. In 1972, he was promoted to ABVP Secretary-General of Mirzapur.

He entered politics in 1974 and was elected Secretary-General of Bharatiya Jan Sangh (predecessor of the Bharatiya Janata Party) in Mirzapur. He was selected District President of Bharatiya Jan Sangh and District Coordinator of the Jai Prakash Narayan Movement. It was during this movement that he was jailed for the first time; along with many others who objected to the emergency.

He was elected to the UP Assembly as an MLA in 1977. In 1983, he was selected Secretary of State of UP BJP. He was selected Chief of State of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morch (BJYM) and in 1988 he was elected National President of BJYM. In 1998 he wrote a book, Unemployment-Their Reasons and Remedies.

He was elected MLC on the UP Legislative Council in the same year, and eventually became Minister of Education for the UP in 1991, when the BJP formed the government for the first time in the UP. His Anti-Copy Act of 1992, during his tenure as Minister of Education, was a turning point in his career as he was seen and appreciated across the nation.


In 1994, he was elected MP for the Rajya Sabha and Chief Whip of the BJP. In 1997, he was selected President of UP BJP. Atal Bihari Vajpayee became Prime Minister of Miniter on 22 November 1999, and Rajnath Singh was appointed Union Minister of Surface Transport; during which Atal Bihari’s dream project, the National Highway Development Program was launched. Rajnath became Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh on 28 October 2000.

In 2002, he was appointed Secretary-General of the BJP. He became the Union Minister for Agriculture and Food Processing the following year. As Secretary-General of the BJP, he travelled across the country to meet with workers from all over India to strengthen the party. In 2004, he was appointed Secretary-General of State for the second time. He was appointed National President of the BJP on 31 December 2005 and held office until 19 December 2009.

In May 2014, he was elected MP of the Lucknow Lok Sabha Constituency and on 26 May 2014, he took an oath as the Union Home Minister of India to the Government of Narendra Modi.

Rajnath Singh was appointed as Minister of the Narendra Modi Government by President Ram Nath Kovind on 30 May 2019. He was declared as Union Minister of Defence on 31 May 2019.
