Sanjay Dutt is a Bollywood movie star who is known for his exceptional skill. Affluent family with sarcastic Bollywood origins, Sanjay comes from a well-to-do background. His father, Sunil Dutt, was a well-known actor and politician, while his mother, Nargis, was a former actress in the Hindi film industry.
In 1981, Dutt made his feature film debut with Rocky, which was both produced and directed by his father, Sunil Dutt, who was also his mentor. In 1982, he was sentenced to five months in jail for possessing illicit substances. His arrest for possessing illegal weapons followed the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts, and he was charged with terrorism and disruptive activities under the TADA (Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Act) (AK-56).
Even though he had been freed from prison on bail in October 1995, he was detained by the police again in December 1995. But, in April 1997, he was able to get out of prison on bond for the second time. During this period, he was out of work completely.
In a ruling handed out on July 31, 2007, the TADA Court exonerated him of the allegations stemming from the Mumbai explosion but sentenced him to six years in jail for possession of prohibited weapons. He was transported to the Yerwada Jail in Pune, where he remains now.
However, on 22 October 2007, he was returned to prison after being freed on bail on the 20th of August of that year. Finally, on November 27, 2007, the Supreme Court of the United States granted him bail. His sentence was lowered from six years jail to five years imprisonment on March 21, 2013, by the Supreme Court of India, which had reviewed the TADA decision.
