Shashi Kumar is a Karnataka Indian State actor and politician. He has appeared in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi movies, besides Kannada.

The film was a rework of the Hindi film, Meri Jung (1985). The film was given favourable feedback by the audience.He faltered somewhat in his career because of three back to back flops, including Kollura Kaala, Gandharva and Baa Nanna Preetisu.

In 1988, Chiranjeevi Sudhakara, Shashi played his debut part as a villain in the movie. Since then he began to receive several films to play bad characters He made a film with P. Nanjundappa, Shankar C.B.I. 1989. 1989. The film was a Kannada drama film with Shankar Nagin in the lead. Shashi took a side role as the dancer named Santosh, who is given a chance by a political party to fight the Zilla municipal elections, but subsequently is killed. Following a fairly casual inquiry, the case of Santosh was shut down by the local police and the death was a suicide. Later, C.B.I. officer Sathya took on this case and solved the riddle of the death of Santosh. The film had a mixed answer.

Shashi and Malashri’s actress have collaborated in numerous films. Tara, Shruti and Sudha Rani were other actresses with whom he mostly worked.In 1990, Kumar played his first important part in the film Policena Henthi. The film was an action drama by Dynamic Films Om Prakashand. The movie was accompanied by Devaraj and Malashri. The songs in this film, especially Hari Om Hari and Modalane Chumbana, were a big success.



He also worked in 1995 in the film Baashha with the Tamil actor Rajnikanth. The film was Suresh Krishna’s Tamil action flick.

Currently the actor is making a Vighna film entitled Telugu and has declared that he will shoot the Buddha’s life, Naa Mahabuddhivantha, which will be released in the beginning of 2017.

Shashi suffered a serious accident at the peak years of his work due to drunken driving. He had to undergo multiple operations and facial injuries. He no longer has the leading roles in films and thus had to make a political career. He is currently a parliamentarian and won elections from Karnataka’s Chitradurga district.
