Chonnasorn Sajakul is better known as Sorn, her stage name and nickname. She is a Thai singer who currently resides in South Korea. In 2011, she won the first season of K-Pop Star Hunt. She later made her debut as a member of the South Korean girl group CLC, which was managed by Cube Entertainment. She also creates videos for her Produsorn YouTube channel, which debuted in 2019. Sorn uses it to share personal vlogs and behind-the-scenes content for CLC.


Sorn Biography:

Her mother allowed her to take vocal lessons at the Grammy Vocal Studio in Bangkok as a child in order for her to achieve her dream of becoming a singer. She was born into a wealthy family. Her father’s name is Wanasthana Sajakul. He was a former Thai parliament member and former manager of Thailand’s national football team, and her half-brother, Teerapat Sajakul, is a well-known Thai actor and singer.

Sorn began attending an international school in Thailand when he was two years old. She attended KIS International School in Bangkok before graduating from Korea Kent Foreign School in Seoul.

Pre-debut:

Sorn competed in tvN’s K-Pop Star Hunt in 2011 and won the first season.

Sorn relocated to Korea at the age of 15 to train at Cube Entertainment. She was the company’s first foreign, non-Korean trainee at the time.

In 2012, she collaborated with G.NA on a song called “Because You Are The One,” which was sung in English. In 2013, Sorn appeared in the documentary Seoul: Capital of K-Pop, where she discussed her trainee life and what it involves, as well as in a documentary about her future bandmate, Oh Seung-hee.


2015-present: Debut with CLC:

Don’t Waste My Time, Sorn’s first makeup line, was unveiled on February 8, 2021, in collaboration with VT Cosmetics. Cube TV’s Steve Jobson reality debuted on February 11, 2021, documenting the creation and development of the makeup line.

Sorn started teasing a solo release on TikTok on March 9. Cube Entertainment confirmed on March 18, 2021, that Sorn would make her solo debut on March 23, 2021, with the English digital single “Run.” Sorn was personally involved in the creation of her debut single’s cover artwork and music video. “Run,” written and produced by Candace Sosa, is an acoustic pop song with a charm that represents the warm atmosphere of spring. On March 22, at midnight, a music video teaser was released. Jeju Island was the setting for the music video. The song and music video were released on all platforms on March 23 at 6 p.m. KST.

Activism:

Sorn

Sorn started campaigning for fair royalty payments for foreign musicians based in South Korea in 2017. She revealed in a Facebook live interview that she was paid six times less than her Korean colleagues, but she also recognized that her agency tried to help the situation. Sorn asserted in an Instagram story uploaded in 2019 that the issue had been resolved with the Federation of Korean Music Performers (FKMP).
