On the basis of this stance, Carlson dismissed reports of police brutality against African-Americans and the ensuing protests, notably those organized by the Black Lives Matter movement, as untrue or unimportant. As a reminder to his (white) viewers, Carlson said at one point, “Remember that when they come for you.” “Replace” white Americans with nonwhites, Carlson claimed, using the white supremacist conspiracy theory that liberals were aiming to “replace” white Americans with nonwhite immigrants.
Carlson’s detractors viewed his backing for white nationalism and “white grievance” politics as evidence of his racist views toward non-whites, according to them. According to this evaluation, a media watchdog group released a number of tapes from 2006 to 2011 showing Carlson using racist (and sexist and homophobic) language on a Tampa-based radio show.

It wasn’t until February 2022 that the Russian invasion of Ukraine began that Carlson acknowledged that Russia’s military threat was real, and he criticized the Russians for doing so, but he also promoted the conspiracy theory that Hunter Biden funded a laboratory in Ukraine for the creation of biological weapons.
The devastating SARS-CoV-2 pandemic began in the United States in early 2020 (see coronavirus), and Carlson told his viewers that the virus posed an immediate threat to public health. Carlson was apparently successful in convincing Trump that the virus deserved serious consideration. The public safety measures implemented to control the spread of the virus—including company closures, stay-at-home orders, and mask-wearing mandates—were soon criticized by Carlson, who also questioned the necessity and safety of vaccines developed by American and European pharmaceutical corporations.
To further instill mistrust among his audience members, he falsely claimed that Anthony Fauci, director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases, had created and spread the virus in this country. This was a clear attempt to undermine the country’s then-leading pandemic response. In the end, Trump had a similar take on the country’s response to the outbreak.
