Zinedine Zidane Biography:

Zinedine Zidane

Zinedine Yazid Zidane was born in La Castellane, Marseille, in the south of France, on June 23, 1972. He is the youngest of five brothers and sisters. Zidane is an Algerian Muslim of Kabyle heritage. Smaal and Malika, his parents, fled to Paris in 1953 from the village of Aguemoune in the Berber-speaking region of Kabylie in northern Algeria, just before the Algerian War began.

His father worked as a night watchman and warehouseman at a department store, typically on the night shift, while his mother stayed at home. By the norms of the neighborhood, which was infamous across Marseille for its high crime and unemployment rates, the family lived in relative comfort. Zidane credits his “guiding light” in his career to his strict upbringing and father.

His early love of football was influenced primarily by Olympique Marseille players Jean-Pierre Papin, Enzo Francescoli, and Blaz Sliskovic, who were his soccer idols. Zidane received his first player license for a local club’s junior team when he was eleven years old. On the tough streets of La Castellane in Marseille, France, he honed his skills.

While playing for Cannes in the 1988–89 season, Zidane met his future wife, Véronique Fernández, at the age of 17. Enzo Zidane Fernández (born 24 March 1995), Luca Zidane Fernández (born 13 May 1998), Theo Zidane Fernández (born 18 May 2002), and Elyaz Zidane Fernández  (born 26 December 2005)are their four sons .

Farid, his older brother, died of cancer on July 12th, 2019. Adidas, Lego, France Telecom, Orange, Audi, Volvic, and Christian Dior are just a few of Zidane’s endorsements. These sponsorship deals brought him €8.6 million in addition to his €6.4 million Real Madrid contract in 2006, bringing his total earnings to €15 million ($20.4 million), making him the sixth-highest paid footballer in the world.

In 2010, Zidane was featured in Shakira’s music video “Waka Waka,” in which he is shown celebrating France’s 1998 World Cup victory. The Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre of Jordan named Zidane one of the 500 most important Muslims in the world in 2016, noting that his “modest character has endeared him to the wider audience.”

The event brought in a total of $260,000 ($7,750). Two schools and 16 three-bedroom residences were built with this money.

Career:

Zinedine Zidane

Zinedine Zidane followed football as a professional career after his training at the Cannes Youth level. At the age of 17, he made his professional debut at Cannes, scoring his first goal. He was transferred to Bordeaux as a midfielder in 1992. Here, he demonstrated his outstanding all-around soccer abilities, which boosted his popularity.

Zidane was eventually signed to Juventus FC in Italy in 1996. This move increased his prominence and raised expectations on the field. He led Juventus FC to an Italian Super Cup, a UEFA Super Cup, an Intercontinental Cup, and two Series A titles in the following two seasons. His career reached its peak in 1998 when France hosted the World Cup.

Zidane led Les Bleus to victory in the competition, scoring two goals for France against Brazil in the finals with his dribbling and passing talents. By shutting down Brazil in the World Cup finals 3-0, he became a national hero.

In 2000, he led the French team to an international victory at the European Championship, concluding in a 2-1 victory over Italy. Zidane was signed by the Spanish club Real Madrid for a world-record transfer fee of more than $66 million a year later, in 2001. This investment paid off handsomely, as Zidane assisted Real Madrid in winning the coveted UEFA Champions League.

Zidane announced his retirement in 2006, shortly after the 2006 World Cup in Germany. However, in an unexpected turn of events, his career was cut short in the finals as France got to the finals alongside Italy.  In the allotted extra time, one of his opponents, Marco Materazzi, infuriated him with his words, and his career came to an end in style.

In response, he pushed his head into the chest of the Italian’s opponent, resulting in his disqualification. Following that, France was defeated by Italy on penalty kicks.

In 2011, Zidane was chosen as the club’s sporting director and joined Real Madrid’s front office as a top adviser. Following that, it was revealed in 2012 that the retired French soccer legend would begin coaching at the Real Madrid Youth Academy.
