Wonho Biography:

Wonho was born on 1 March 1993, Gunpo-si, South Korea. His birth sign is Pisces.

Career:

Prior to his official debut, Wonho was a member of the Starship Entertainment project group Nu Boyz, which included labelmates #Gun, Shownu, and Jooheon. On December 5, 2014, the quartet performed at the opening show of the Starship X concert and uploaded multiple tracks to their company’s YouTube channel.

Starship Amusement and Mnet initiated No. Mercy, a competition program, in late December. Wonho was chosen as a member of Starship Entertainment’s new boy group Monsta X along with six other participants, including Shownu and Jooheon, on the final episode of the show.

Wonho made his debut in Monsta X, a hip-hop boy group, on May 14, 2015, with the release of their first extended play, Trespass. Wonho was a vocalist in the group and began regularly writing, composing, and arranging songs for the group in 2017.

Since 2018, Wonho has appeared in many magazine photoshoots, as well as collaborating with brands and promoting campaigns through numerous fashion magazines.

In August 2019, he also took part in a collaboration project with Elle and Tom Ford, alongside Shownu, to promote Tom Ford’s latest perfume line. He also made solo appearances, such as a November 2019 cover story in Dazed.

Wonho’s departure from Monsta X was revealed by Starship Entertainment on October 31, 2019, investigating reports surrounding him, after rumors about his illegal use of marijuana when he was younger surfaced on social media.

On April 10, Wonho authorized as a solo artist with Highline Entertainment, a subsidiary of Starship Entertainment. The agency stated that he would be promoting himself as a solo artist and producer in the future. Maverick announced on Twitter on May 6 that they had signed a management agreement with Wonho for his international activities.

Wonho announced the launch of his first solo album, Love Synonym Pt.1: Right for Me, on August 9. Wonho released the pre-release English-language single “Losing You,” along with a music video, on August 14. “Losing You” received praise for displaying Wonho’s all-around musicality, including his vocals, songwriting, composing, and producing. The title track “Open Mind,” which was accompanied by a music video, was released on September 4th. The same day, Wonho had his debut showcase, which was hosted by V Live.

On September 27, Wonho performed his first solo concert. Due to COVID-19 prohibitions, the concert was streamed live online via the streaming platform LiveXLive. Wonho revealed his first comeback through his concert, with a new EP, which was originally planned to be released by the end of 2020, but no date was set. During his concert, he pre-released “Flash,” a song from his upcoming EP.

On February 26, Wonho’s second EP, Love Synonym Pt.2: Right for Us, was released. Five songs from the EP debuted on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart, and he occupied 20% of the chart’s positions in one week.

On March 28, he held an online concert called Weneedlove via LiveXLive. Wonho declared his intention to return in the summer of 2021 during the concert.

In May, Wonho collaborated with Kiiara to release a music video for the song “Ain’t About You” from his second EP.
