Yuto Adachi Biography:
Yuto Adachi was born in Nagano, Japan, on January 23, 1998. He is the youngest of three siblings, with one sister and one brother. He became interested in K-pop when he was in fourth grade. After watching K-pop groups such as TVXQ and Girls’ Generation on television with his sister, he was captivated by their vocal abilities, synchronized dance, and visuals.
He stated in an interview with BuzzFeed Japan: “Music was not something I was interested in. I was the type who didn’t listen to music and instead focused on sports like baseball and soccer. However, when I first heard about K-pop, I was intrigued and gradually became more interested in it.” He became a K-pop fan after entering middle school. He and his friends danced to K-pop choreography and uploaded choreography videos to the internet.
Later, when he was in grade 2 middle school, he applied to a global audition held in Japan by a Korean entertainment company. He was, however, turned down because he was too young. He studied Korean and admired dancing while watching K-pop videos during his morning reading session at his middle school. People around him were aware of his admiration for K-pop. In his middle school yearbook’s graduation article collection, he wrote, “I want to be a big star.” He was the school’s baseball and soccer player, as well as a member of the dance club, and he would perform on stage at his school’s annual festival every year.
He moved to Korea at the age of 15 after convincing his parents several times. He aspired to be the first Japanese male K-pop artist. Yuto’s grandfather had died while he was still a trainee. He did, however, continue his practice with his grandfather’s letter of motivation. Yuto was a trainee for three and a half years before making his Pentagon debut.
Yuto has frequently expressed his admiration for Shinee’s song “Lucifer” in interviews. He also admitted that Taemin from the same group is his role model. Yuto is known for having a low-toned voice, particularly when rapping.
Pre-debut and Pentagon Maker:
Yuto Adachi was a former trainee at JYP Entertainment. He was chosen as a Cube trainee in 2014 after passing the “Cube Star World Audition” global selection. Yuto competed in the 2015 Idol Star Athletics Ssireum Basketball Futsal Archery Championships in 2015. Yuto won the gold medal in men’s futsal at the championship with Goaldae-Sliga, Doo-Joon and Yoseob of Beast, and Roh Ji-hoon.
Yuto appeared as a survival candidate in the South Korean television reality show Pentagon Maker, which was hosted by Cube Entertainment and co-produced by Mnet. Though he was at first eliminated in the bottom four, he was saved in the ninth week after performing “Young” (Prod. by Dok2) with his team. “Young” was released on multiple online music sites on July 9.
Yuto performed Block B’s “Very good” alongside Jinho and Wooseok for the 3 vs 3 vs 3 matches, where the confirmed members were chosen as unit leaders and each team included the elimination candidates, including Yuto, in episode 9, week 10 of Pentagon Maker. Yuto’s team won first place in unit performance as a result of the final mission. As a result, after completing his Pentagraph, he was removed from the list of candidates for elimination and became Pentagon’s sixth member. Yuto made his first appearance on Yeo One’s web drama Spark, alongside fellow Pentagon members Hui, E’Dawn, and Wooseok, before the group’s official debut.
2016–present: Debut with Pentagon and solo activities:
Yuto made his official debut as a member of the Pentagon on October 10, 2016, with their first extended play Pentagon. He is the group’s lead rapper and dancer. Yuto then appeared in Pentagon’s second extended play, Five Senses, less than two months later. He co-wrote the song “Engine,” which was his first Pentagon song after joining the band. In 2017, he appeared as Asgard in the drama Hello, My Twenties! 2 alongside his bandmates. Yuto took on his first role as the MC for the Japan-Korea 10th Anniversary KMF2017, which was held at Yokohama Arena on September 24.
