Scotty Kilmer Biography:

Scotty Kilmer was born in Niagara Falls, New York on October 2, 1953. At the age of 14, he learned to be a mechanic from his grandfather, Elmer Kilmer. For his undergraduate studies, he attended York University. He later received a degree in Anthropology from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. He was working on his Ph.D. at the time, but leave to become a mechanic in defiance of the tenure system. On the advice of his wife, Kilmer wrote Everyone’s Guide to Buy a Used Car and Car Maintenance, which was first published in 1994.
