Asaduddin Owaisi Biography:
Owaisi was born on 13 May 1969 to Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi and Najmunnis Begum. He comes from the Hyderabad political establishment. His grandfather Abdul Wahid Owaisi re-launched the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen political party as All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen on 18 September 1957. He also succeeded in Qasim Razvi as president of the party after he was released from prison.
His father Sultan Salahuddin was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Andhra Pradesh in 1962. Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi was elected to the Indian Parliament from the Hyderabad constituency for the first time in 1984 and continued to dominate the elections until 2004 when he stepped down in favor of Asaduddin. He was killed in 2008.
Asaduddin Owaisi graduated from Nizam College (Osmania University) in Hyderabad with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He led the South Zone Inter-University U-25s cricket team as a fast bowler in the Vizzy Trophy in 1994 and was later picked by the South Zone University Team. He is a lawyer by profession and studied at the Lincoln Inn in London.
His brother Akbaruddin Owaisi is a member of the Legislative Assembly of Telangana and heads the party. His younger brother, Burhanuddin Owaisi, is the editor of Etemaad. Owaisi has been married to Farheen Owaisi. The couple has six children, including one son, Sultan Uddin Owaisi (born 2010), and five daughters. His mother’s name is Nazima Begum. He lives in Shastripuram, Mailardevpaly, Hyderabad.
His eldest daughter, Qudsia Owaisi, was engaged to Barkat Alam Khan, grandson of Nawab Shah Alam Khan (paternal), and Dr. Moinuddin Khan Sandozai (maternal) on 24 March 2018. One of his daughters is a doctor’s son, Dr. Mazhar Ali Khan, cousin of Zahid Ali Khan, editor of The Siasat Daily. He is hailed by his supporters as the leader of the Community, Naqeeb-e-Millat. He’s fluent in Urdu / Hindi and English. He wears a long sherwani, an Islamic cap, and a clipped beard.
Asaduddin Owaisi had a difference of opinion with social activist Anna Hazare during the national anti-corruption protests. Hazare wanted Jan Lokpal to be politically neutral. On the other hand, Kejriwal ‘s view was that, because no progress had been made through negotiations with various political parties, it was important to be directly involved in politics. The organization India Against Corruption conducted a survey in this regard. The result suggested support for politicization. Others involved in the anti-corruption movement, too, had divided opinions. While Kejriwal ‘s move was supported by Shanti Bhushan and Prashant Bhushan, it was opposed by others like Santosh Hegde and Kiran Bedi.
On 19 September 2012, Anna Hazare and Asaduddin Owaisi found that their disagreements over the creation of a political party to replace India with the Corruption Movement were irreconcilable. On 2 October 2012, the anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi, Kejriwal announced the founding of a political party. He said that the party would be formally launched on 26 November 2012. The Constitution of India was adopted in 1949.
The party was introduced in Delhi on the scheduled date and was renamed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) or the Common Man Party. The party contested the election of the Delhi Legislative Assembly for the first time on 4 December 2013. Asaduddin Owaisi defeated Sheila Dikshit in the New Delhi Assembly, who had been Chief Minister of Delhi for three consecutive terms. He was first sworn in as Chief Minister on 28 December 2013. He ruled Delhi for just 49 days before he resigned from office in February 2014.
