The colorful Big Freedia is the most recognized figure in the bounce music scene. High-energy, body-positive, and LGBTQ-empowering anthems like “Booty-Whop” and “Explode” from her breakout album Just Be Free (2014) and “Rent” from 2018’s 3rd Ward Bounce are her calling card. Big Freedia is a seasoned performer from the city of New Orleans who popularized the kind of bounce music that originated there. Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce and Big Freedia: Bounces Back both featured the bounce ambassador, who is most known for her musical career.

Born Freddie Ross in 1978, Freedia grew up admiring the work of artists like Sylvester, Michael Jackson, and Patti LaBelle. In 1998, she joined the team of drag queen and bounce artist Katey Red, which is when she first became interested in the genre. Freedia released her first original bounce track, “An Ha, Oh Yeah,” in 1999. A year later, in 2003, the Queen Diva CD was released. Because of the powerful hip-hop beats and house music voices, Freedia was hooked to the song. After Hurricane Katrina ravaged New Orleans in 2005, Freedia packed up her belongings and relocated to Texas. She played a significant role in introducing the bounce genre to the state of Texas.

Big Freedia Hitz, Vol. 1 was released in 2010 alongside Freedia’s guest performance on the Galactic album Ya-Ka-May; the following year, Scion A/V picked up the album for national distribution. The 2011 single “Nasty,” which Freedia co-wrote and performed with Spank Rock, was another collaborative effort. Highlights of 2012 for Freedia included appearances on HBO’s Treme and the talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live. She released her first full-length album, Just Be Free, in 2014 and embarked on a U.S. tour in 2013 as the support act for the Postal Service.Big Freedia Contact Address, Phone Number, Whatsapp Number, Fanmail Address, Email ID, Website 13

Beyoncé’s “Formation” music video, released in 2016, featured Freedia, a singer with a global fan base. This was followed by a world tour. Appropriately titled “Drop,” she also released the song as a single and accompanying music video. Her summertime collaboration with DJs Diplo and Snake was featured on the Entourage soundtrack. Freedia released her Christmas album, A Very Big Freedia Christmas, before the new year began. The album featured the hits “Rudy, the Big Booty Reindeer” and “Santa Is a Gay Man.” Freedia collaborated with rapper Mannie Fresh, who had previously performed at the Queen of Bounce event, on the track “Dive” in 2017.

The following singles from 2018 were “Make It Jingle” and “Best Beeleevah.” Drake, whose chart-topping, bounce-influenced hit single “Nice for What” featured her at the song’s outset, gave Freedia another major endorsement in April of that year. Almost immediately afterward, she dropped her major label first album, 3rd Ward Bounce, for Asylum Records. The hit song “Rent” was featured on this EP among cameos from Lizzo, Erica Falls, and Goldie. Freedia appeared on “Poppin'” by British electronic artist Got Some the next year.

She was also featured on Dillon Francis and TV Noise’s “Bawdy,” an electro-bounce party track. Later that year, she dropped the lead track off the album that would follow her third Ward Bounce effort. The Swedish electro-pop duo Icona Pop contributed an extra track titled “Pipe That” to 2020’s Louder EP. Listen to this track, which was featured on the album “Louder.” Kesha was a highlight of the short concert. In return for the smash hit “Raising Hell,” which they had recorded together, she sang the uplifting “Chasing Rainbows.” Big Freedia dropped a Christmas EP in 2020 called Smoking Santa Christmas.

Big Freedia performs five out of seven nights a week, and the show she puts on with her dancers, whom she calls “The Divas,” is nothing short of captivating. She’s a fan favorite at major music festivals like Bonnaroo, SXSW, Electric Forest, Hangout Fest, and FunFunFun Fest, and she’s played everywhere from New York to San Francisco.Big Freedia Contact Address, Phone Number, Whatsapp Number, Fanmail Address, Email ID, Website 14

Big Freedia, a male who plays a woman on stage but who is transgender, insists that her sexuality has little to do with her music, despite the fact that she is out and proud. Anyone from any background, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, skin color, or racial background has attended one of my events. People just want to get out of the house and dance their asses off. Big Freedia has gone from being a New Orleans phenomenon to a national one in the space of just two years.

Her first EP, Scion A/V Presents: Big Freedia, was released in 2010 after she appeared [as herself] in two episodes of the HBO series “Treme.” The EP was produced by a New Orleans native, BlaqNmilD. Popular tracks including “Excuse,” “Almost Famous,” and “Gin in my System,” “Azz Everywhere,” and “Y’all Get Back Now” were featured on the EP. Earlier this year, she released the singles “Booty Whop” and “Nah Who Mad” to her catalog. She also appeared on the track “Everything is Boring and Everyone is a Fucking Liar” by Spank Rock “Nasty from the album of the same name. Freedia first appeared on a national television show when she performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in January of this year.

The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Fader, RollingStone.com, SPIN, Offbeat, Chicago Tribune, Columbia Spectator, Pheonix New Times, San Francisco Chronicle, LA Times, and LA Weekly are just a few of the publications that have complimented her work. Big Freedia, ever the trailblazer in the artistic world, took her talents into the digital realm this year with the release of the Big Freedia Booty Battle Video Game, which was praised by Forbes for having “…everything a great game should be.” Big Freedia (born Freddie Ross) grew up in the uptown section of New Orleans with his mother, a hairdresser, and stepfather, a Coca-Cola truck driver.

Freddie and his family moved to a better-off neighborhood in New Orleans when he was 15 years old. Freddie, his brother Adam, and his sister Crystal Ross were all exposed to a wide variety of musical styles at an early age thanks to their mother, who often belted out tunes by the likes of Gladys Knight and Patty LaBelle while doing housework. Mama Freddie loved her some Gladys Knight and Patty LaBelle. But it was in the Baptist church choir that young Freddie found his true calling and flourished. As Freedia recalls, “my mother would make sure that I would never miss a practice.” It’s not surprising that by the time Freedia was 18, he had moved up through the ranks of the choir to become its director.Big Freedia Contact Address, Phone Number, Whatsapp Number, Fanmail Address, Email ID, Website 15

Freedia, a native of the hip-hop age, gained notoriety as a young adult thanks to her devotion to the sounds of RUN DMC, Salt ‘n’ Pepa, and Adidas Shell Tops. MC T Tucker’s “Where Dey At,” widely regarded as the pioneering Bounce song, enthralled him the first time he heard it in 1991. After starting out as a backup dancer for Katey Red, the pioneering “Sissy Bounce” rapper, Freedia recognized he had found his true passion in the music industry. After that, he became successful as a solo performer. Queen of Bounce, the debut season of Big Freedia’s television series, will premiere on Fuse TV in October, and the artist is now wrapping up work on a new extended play (EP) of the same name. Finally, Big Freedia is wrapping up the last touches on her upcoming DVD, which will be titled Big Freedia Presents: Twerk, Bounce, and Pop.
