Devdutt Pattanaik is an Indian mythologist, speaker, illustrator, and writer. He is famous for his writings on sacred lore, legends, folklore, fables, and parables. His work focuses mainly on the fields of myth, religion, and mythology.

Pattanaik has introduced Mahabharata and Ramayana into the management of human resources. He wrote books on the relevance of sacred stories, symbols, and rituals in modern times. His famous books include Myth = Mithya: A Handbook of Hindu Mythology; Jaya: An Illustrated Tale of the Mahabharata; and Sita: An Illustrated Tale of the Ramayana and My Gita.

Pattanaik organises a radio show/podcast called the Devdutt Pattanaik Show for Radio Mirchi.


Devdutt Pattanaik Biography:

Pattanaik was born on 11 December 1970 in Mumbai, India. He was born in the Karana caste family of Kayastha. He spent his childhood and his student life in Chembur, Mumbai. He studied at OLPS (Our Lady of Perpetual Succour) High School in Chembur. Pattanaik has a degree in medicine (M.B.B.S.) from Grant Medical College, Mumbai. He then took a course in comparative mythology at the University of Mumbai.

Career:

Pattanaik has worked in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries for 14 years and spent his spare time writing mythology articles and books. He also worked as a consultant for Ernst and Young. His first book “Shiva: An Introduction” was published in 1997. Devdutt demonstrates most of his books.

He was a speaker at the first TED conference held in India in November 2009. He also served as Chief Belief Officer atĀ the Future Group.

Devdutt consulted Star TV on mythological television series such as Mahabharata and Siya Ke Ram. In 2015, Devdutt presented Devlok to the Hindi TV series Devdutt Pattanaik. The show is based on Indian mythology.

Pattnaik has worked on Audible Originals (India) audiobook Suno Mahabharat Devdutt Pattanaik Ke Saath and Revisiting Mahabharata with Devdutt Pattanaik. In his show, he discusses the details of the Great War (Mahabharata), how it affected the world, and what happened to India after the death of Pandavas and Kauravas. He also communicates the Vedic tenets that describe karma and dharma.
