Today I will tell you about HOW TO CONTACT Dikembe Mutombo?

Dikembe Mutombo,  Mukamba Jean-Jacques Wamutombo, known as Deke, was a Congolese-American basketball player who was one of the finest defenders in NBA history and was also known for his humanitarian endeavours. He was born June 25, 1966, in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Mutombo, the son of a school administrator and later the Congo’s education department, grew up dreaming of being a doctor and finally learned nine languages (French, English, Spanish, Portuguese, and five Central African dialects). At the age of 16, Mutombo picked up basketball with the assistance of his father and brother. His previous experience in football (soccer) and martial arts helped him adjust to the new sport.

When Mutombo arrived at college, he had no interest in playing basketball, but he drew the eye of famed Georgetown coach John Thompson, who recruited the 7-foot 2-inch (2.18-metre) prospective medical-school student to join the squad. After dominating Georgetown’s intramural basketball league while clearing his eligibility, Mutombo joined the Hoyas during his sophomore year.

He played little during his first season on the team. Thompson started playing Mutombo with star forward-centre (and future Hall of Famer) Alonzo Mourning in an imposing “twin tower” lineup during his junior year, and he began to break out. During his senior season, Mutombo established himself as an NBA prospect, averaging 15.2 points, 12.2 rebounds, and a career-high 4.7 blocks per game.

Mutombo had an early impact in the NBA, averaging 16.6 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 3.0 blocks per game and earning a position on the Western Conference All-Star team during his rookie season. He helped the Nuggets overcome the top-seeded Seattle SuperSonics in the first round of the 1993–94 postseason, marking the first time an eighth seed had ever won an NBA playoff series.

After the series-clinching victory, a television shot of a jubilant and crying Mutombo lying on the court with a basketball over his head became one of the league’s most iconic images. Mutombo won his first NBA defensive player of the year (DPOY) title the following season, the second of three consecutive in which he led the NBA in blocks per game.

In 1996, he joined the Atlanta Hawks, where he maintained his defensive domination by earning two additional Defensive Player of the Year awards (1996–97 and 1997–98). During the 2000–01 season, he was moved to the Philadelphia 76ers, where he won his fourth DPOY title and helped the 76ers reach the NBA finals (a loss to the Los Angeles Lakers).

Mutombo played for the New Jersey Nets, New York Knicks, and Houston Rockets throughout his NBA career. After the 2008–09 season, he retired with 3,289 career blocks (second-most in NBA history) and eight All-Star appearances. In 2015, Mutombo was honoured by being inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Mutombo was known off the court for being one of the most generous players in the game’s history. In 1997, he founded the Dikembe Mutombo Foundation, which focuses on the construction of hospitals and the provision of health care in Central Africa. The organisation opened the Biamba Marie Mutombo Hospital (named after his mother) in 2007, which was Kinshasa’s first new hospital in 40 years.

Mutombo was designated the NBA’s Global Ambassador in 2009, a position that required him to travel throughout the world to promote the sport and participate in philanthropic activities. In 2001 and 2009, he received the NBA’s J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award, making him the first two-time winner of the award.

Jonathan Kuminga’s sole exposure to professional basketball as a kid in the Congo was restricted to 30-minute YouTube binges at his neighbourhood internet café.Kunming, a slender adolescent with broad shoulders and expanding limbs, would ask his parents for money, put on his old sneakers, and trek to the only site with internet access. He’d feverishly click-through advertisements to get to the NBA highlights.

He’d find himself leaning toward the television not long after, enthralled by the neat uniforms, crowded arenas, and immaculate hardwood floors. In his Players’ Tribune piece, Kuminga stated, “It felt like I was in this dream world.” “I’d just get lost in the midst of it all.”Then Kuminga’s practise would conclude, and he’d return to his hometown of Goma, where he’d be practising dribbling techniques and accumulating scars on an outdoor dirt court.

Kunming, the Warriors’ seventh overall choice in Thursday’s draught, now lives in a world he could only enter through YouTube. Kalinga donned a purple lapel pin and a double-breasted fuchsia suit to his introduction news appearance in front of Chase Center on Friday. He struck a sneaker contract with Nike earlier this week. Soon, he’ll put on a Warriors uniform, practise on the $1.2 billion arena’s floor, and compete against some of his heroes.

LeBron James was one of the 18-year-favourite old’s players to watch at the café. Kalinga enters the NBA with a sculpted body that defies his age, just like James did in 2003.The similarities, however, end there. James was a prodigy with tangible basketball experience and a refined game as a youngster, and he was considered as one of the most complete prospects in NBA draught history.

Kunming, on the other hand, is unprocessed. He began playing basketball at the age of two in Goma, a war-torn city on the Rwandan border in the eastern Congo. A deadly volcano eruption and almost three decades of conflicts have dominated Goma’s recent history. Kalinga didn’t have regular access to indoor courts, new shoes, or the large network of basketball camps and AAU circuits like his American colleagues.

As a result, his parents moved him to the United States to play high school basketball at Huntington Prep in West Virginia and, subsequently, Patrick School in New Jersey, where he excelled due to his athletic abilities and emerged as a five-star prospect. Kalinga faced more difficult competition there. In 13 games, he had four double-doubles and averaged 15.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists, although he failed to consistently shoot and defend.

He had a reputation as a high-volume shooter (38.7% total), a ball-stopper, and a sluggish defender. The Warriors, on the other hand, are certain that they can get the most out of him and maximise his potential. “To have two players like this,” Myers said while sitting on a platform with Kuminga and No. 14 choice Moses Moody, “that ideally he can play as long as Steph (Curry) and Klay (Thompson) played together would be a dream come true.”

Kalinga becomes the NBA’s second active Congo-born player after being picked by the Warriors (joining Charlotte Hornets centre Bismack Biyombo). He’s the most recent addition to a small group of Congolese NBA players that includes his cousin Emmanuel Mudiay and Dikembe Mutombo, the league’s lone All-Star. Kalinga hopes that his accomplishment will encourage the next generation of Congolese basketball players to make it to the NBA, in addition to raising awareness of the country’s suffering.

“There aren’t very many people from my hometown who make the NBA,” Kuminga stated. “So I feel like I’m the first person, and I’ve got that chip on my shoulder, and that’s why I’ll constantly strive to make everyone proud.”During the 1993 season, Mutombo said he had one of his greatest performances against Michael Jordan. Dikembe scored 29 points and grabbed 22 rebounds to lead the Denver Nuggets to a victory against the defending NBA champions. Jordan, on the other hand, would bring the trash language at any given opportunity. Because of Jordan’s trash-talking and theatrics, Mutombo couldn’t help but chuckle.

Trying to humiliate players gave Michael Jordan a lot of joy. While Jordan’s major emphasis was always on winning, he also got a thrill out of making fun of his opponent. All of this derives from Jordan’s insatiable ambition to be the best player in the world. Jordan wanted to be the most dominant force on the court, regardless of the occasion, the opponent, or the stakes, and walk away with the victory.

As a young player, Jordan had multiple such interactions, with players like Larry Bird and Magic Johnson teaching him what it takes to be the greatest of the best. MJ became the league’s standard-bearer as he launched his own period of supremacy.Jordan, on the other hand, would bring the trash language at any given opportunity.

Because of Jordan’s trash-talking and theatrics, Mutombo couldn’t help but chuckle.Jordan was the league’s standard, the yardstick by which other players were judged. And NBA icon Dikembe Mutombo relished the chance to play against him, anticipating it even before entering the league.
