Holly Hunter is an American actress and producer well known in movies such as Broadcast News, The Firma, The Piano and The Incredibles for her highly praiseworthy performance. Holly Hunter was born on March 20, 1958, to a farmer and representative of the sport goods brand in Conyers, Georgia, Opal Marguerite Catledge and Charles Edwin Hunter. She’s got six siblings elderly.


She graduated with a degree in drama from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. She worked on her college’s theatre scene and also played at the City Theatre.

In 1987, she had her first big break in the hit film ‘Raising Arizona’ by the Coen brothers. It was Edwina ‘Ed’ McDunnough, a character that the Coens wrote for Holly Hunter in particular. Joel Coen and Nicolas Cage directed the crime comedy film. Apart from acting, Hunter also sang “Down in the Willow Garden” a traditional killing ballad.


In the 1987 film ‘Broadcast News,’ nominated by the Academy Award, she was the cast of a TV news producer, who is prone to a number of emotional disruptions, although highly artistic.

In 1989, she received the Primetime Emmy Award for an outstanding leading actress in Gregory Hoblit’s TV film ‘Roe vs. Wade.
