Joe Biden was the 46th president of the United States and the 47th vice president of the United States under President Barack Obama’s Democratic administration. He served in the Senate as Delaware’s senior senator from 1973 until his resignation in 2009.

He also served on the Senate Judiciary Committee, where he was chair from 1987 to 1995. A month into his campaign, Sanders withdrew and Biden took his place as the presumptive Democratic nominee after the rapid spread of the COVID-19 epidemic in the United States.
