Today I will tell you about HOW TO CONTACT JULIETTE GAUDIN?
Juliette Gaudin was born in 1808. She was an Afro-Cuban teacher and a nun. She was born in Cuba and has spent her whole life helping people who are poor, old, or of a different race.
In 1842, she helped Henrietta Delille start the Sisters of the Holy Family congregation in New Orleans, Louisiana. Juliette Gaudin died on January 1, 1888.
Henriette Delille, a free black woman from New Orleans, Louisiana, started the Sisters of the Holy Family 20 years before the American Civil War, when it was still illegal for such a group to exist. They were Juliette Gaudin and Josephine Charles, and they started this religious group for African-American women.
Henriette, Juliette, and Josephine went against the social norms of their time by not doing what their female ancestors had done. On the other hand, these women chose to do what God told them to do. They were able to follow Jesus’s example of helping people in need without expecting anything in return.
Sisters of Holy Family have been helping the young, the old, and the poor for more than 170 years, just as their founders and early predecessors did. The Sisters have helped a lot of people in cities all over Louisiana, Texas, California, Washington, D.C., Oklahoma, Alabama, Florida, Belize, and Panama. They have also helped people in Benin City, Nigeria, and other places.
Throughout the community’s history, there have been many important events that have been written down. The town was started on November 21, 1842, according to the records. In 1843, catechism lessons were given to both adults and children. In 1847, a group of free black men and women came together to form the Society of the Holy Family. Its goal was to help the Sisters in both spirit and money. On October 15, 1852, Henriette, Juliette, and Josephine said their first vows to each other at St. Augustine Church.
When an epidemic left a lot of children without homes in 1853, the Sisters took care of the orphans. In 1892, the St. John Berchmans’ Orphanage opened for business. Mother Austin Jones paid $10 per acre for 123 acres in Gentilly. From this 1906 purchase came St. Mary’s Academy, St. Paul the Apostle Church and School, the House of the Holy Family, the Delille Inn, the Lafon Day Care Center, the Lafon Nursing Facility of the Holy Family, and the current Motherhouse. In 1988, the process of making Henriette Delille a saint began.
Sisters have spent more than 150 years helping God’s people, getting closer to God, spreading God’s word, and making their own lives better.
Holy Family Sisters thank God for the years they have spent helping others and ask for His blessings on the future of their mission. They give Him praise and thanks.
