Jyothika was born on 18 October 1978, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She was born to a Maharashtrian father and a Punjabi mother. Chander Sadanah, a filmmaker, is her father, and Seema Sadanah is her mum. Nagma, an actress, is her half-sister.
