Lady Gaga Contact Address

Lady Gaga, real name Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta (born March 28, 1986 in New York City, New York, United States), is an American singer-songwriter and performance artist best known for her flamboyant costumes, provocative lyrics, and strong vocal abilities. She achieved enormous popularity with songs such as “Just Dance,” “Bad Romance,” and “Born This Way.”

Germanotta was born in New York City into an Italian American family. She began studying music at a young age and by the time she was a teenager was performing onstage in New York City venues. She attended an all-girls school in Manhattan, Convent of the Sacred Heart, before enrolling in New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts to study music. She spent two years at Tisch before leaving to pursue her own profession.

After quitting out, she began the process of transitioning from Germanotta to Lady Gaga, whose style incorporated elements of glam rock and over-the-top fashion design. In 2007, she co-founded the Ultimate Pop Burlesque Rockshow with performance artist Lady Starlight.  Although she drew inspiration from theatrical artists such as David Bowie during his Ziggy Stardust era, the New York Dolls, Grace Slick, and Freddie Mercury—her stage name was drawn from Queen’s song “Radio Ga Ga”—she developed a persona that came to occupy a unique niche in the music world. Her upbeat, synthetic dance music and edgy, dramatic performance combine to create astounding sounds and imagery. Indeed, Lady Gaga, with her design company Haus of Gaga, created her own sexually charged ensembles, complete with sparkling wigs and space-age bodysuits.

Her debut hit, “Just Dance,” quickly gained popularity in clubs across the United States and Europe, finally reaching the top of the Billboard Pop Songs chart (also called the radio chart). Three further songs from The Fame—”Poker Face,” “LoveGame,” and “Paparazzi”—also hit number one on the radio chart, making Lady Gaga the first artist to have four number ones from a debut album in the list’s 17-year history. The Fame garnered positive critical reviews and was a huge commercial success, selling more than eight million copies worldwide by the end of 2009. Lady Gaga received five Grammy nominations for the album, including album of the year and song of the year (“Poker Face”); she won two Grammys for the album, including best dance recording (“Poker Face”) and best electronic/dance album (The Fame), and her opening duet with Sir Elton John was one of the most talked-about moments of the 2010 Grammys telecast. Additionally, she won three Brit Awards (the British equivalent of the Grammys) in February 2010—for best international female, best album, and breakthrough artist.

Her second studio album, The Fame Monster, was released in November 2009 (it was originally intended as a bonus CD) and almost immediately delivered another chart-topping single, “Bad Romance.” Other chart-topping singles from the album included “Telephone” (with Beyoncé, as well as a nine-minute video directed by Jonas kerlund featuring the pair and referencing Quentin Tarantino’s film Kill Bill: Vol. 1 [2003]) and “Alejandro.”

Lady Gaga established herself as one of the most commercially successful artists in 2010 with a sold-out concert tour (which began in conjunction with the release of The Fame Monster), while also headlining Chicago’s Lollapalooza music festival and performing in front of a record-breaking 20,000 fans on NBC’s Today show. She was named one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People, Forbes magazine named her one of the world’s most powerful women, and she ended 2010 as Billboard magazine’s artist of the year. Lady Gaga won the 2011 Grammy Awards for best pop vocal album (for The Fame Monster), best female pop vocal performance, and best short form video (for “Bad Romance). Lady Gaga’s third studio album, Born This Way (2011), sees the singer drawing inspiration from older musical eras. Lady Gaga had frequently drawn parallels to Madonna as a blonde dance-pop performer with a tendency for provocative lyrics, and the similarities were especially strong on the album’s first two songs. The title tune was a self-empowerment hymn in the vein of Madonna’s 1989 hit “Express Yourself,” while “Judas” boldly combined sexual and religious images. Both tracks became instant hits. Other tracks on the album featured guest appearances by Queen guitarist Brian May and Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band saxophonist Clarence Clemons.

Lady Gaga released Artpop in 2013. Although the album’s exuberant first song “Applause” continued her chart success streak, the album was widely seen as a commercial failure. The next year, she returned with Cheek to Cheek, a compilation of standards she co-wrote with Tony Bennett. The album topped the Billboard 200, jazz, and traditional jazz album charts, and was nominated for a Grammy for best traditional pop vocal album. Joanne (2016) performed poorly until Lady Gaga’s halftime Super Bowl performance in February 2017 drew positive attention to it. Lady Gaga returned to disco and electronica for her sixth studio album, Chromatica (2020).
