In 1964, the Stones first charted in the United Kingdom with a cover of Bobby Womack’s “It’s All Over Now.” The band published their debut album and toured the United States the same year, with “That Girl Belongs to Yesterday” becoming their first American hit. More chart-topping singles followed, including “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” and “Paint It Black,” as well as albums like Out of Our Heads (1965) and Aftermath (1966). (1966).
Jagger’s personal life made news in 1967. During a police raid on Richards’ country property in England, he and his girlfriend, singer Marianne Faithfull, were among those arrested.
