Nakamoto Yuta Biography:
Yuta was born in Kadoma, Osaka, Japan on October 26, 1995. He has a younger and older sister, and he has a good relationship with his family overall; however, he greatly admires both of his parents. He graduated from Yashima Gakuen University International High School and was a soccer player from the ages of 5 to 16, a skill he decided to forego in order to pursue a career as an idol.
After seeing TVXQ on TV in 2011, he decided he wanted to challenge himself and become an idol, so he went to a bookstore and applied to multiple auditions, despite having no background in singing or dancing. In 2012, he took part in SM’s first Global Audition and was one of only three out of 10,000 to pass. On December 24, 2013, he was introduced as a member of the SM Rookies, a pre-debut idol training team.
In 2015, he was the Japanese representative on the show Abnormal Summit, which featured a panel of non-Korean men living in South Korea debating Korean culture. He expressed his views on a variety of issues, including the negative effects of gender roles and his support for transgender people, but was forced to leave the show in order to focus on his debut.
He was also the only trainee to compete in ISAC twice in a row in 2015 and 2016, as well as the one to win NCT’s first medal in 2016. He played for the football team and won gold, demonstrating his ability as a soccer player.
In April 2016, he was featured in the monthly issue of the South Korean magazine The Celebrity and featured in the first season of the reality show NCT Life, which followed the SM Rookies on their journey to stardom.

From November 2016 to January 2017, he emerged on the Idol Party program, in which comedians Park Mi-sun and Lee Bong-won form a family and adopt CLC students Yuta and Sorn as children. He also brought back with NCT 127 in January 2017 with the EP Limitless. Cherry Bomb, the band’s third EP, was released in June. The title track, “Cherry Bomb,” was later identified by Billboard and Idolator as one of the best K-pop songs of the year.
From December 2017 to May 2018, he premiered in the AbemaTV show NCT 127: Road to Japan. In May 2018, he returned as a special MC for the M Countdown program, alongside Doyoung and Jaehyun, and he also appeared in the July print issue of Arena Homme, alongside Moon Taeil and Mark Lee.
NCT 2018 Empathy was released in March 2018 as part of a large-scale project that brought together all of the group’s subgroups. In May 2018, his group made its debut in Japan with NCT 127’s EP Chain. The album reached No. 2 on the Oricon Weekly Albums chart. The group’s first studio album, Regular-Irregular, was also released on October 12, 2018. Regular and Cherry Bomb was later performed in English on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, marking the group’s first appearance on American television.
NCT 127 released their first full-length Japanese album, Awaken, in April 2019 and introduced a new EP, NCT #127 WE ARE SUPERHUMAN. In September of that year, Yuta was able to compete in ISAC’s penalty shootout, where his team won the gold medal for the second time, with him scoring the game-winning point. He also co-hosted the 2019 Idol Star Athletics Championships Chuseok Special with Leeteuk, Dahyun, Johnny, Jaehyun, and Mark at the time. His cover of TVXQ’s “White” was released on the NCT MUSIC YouTube channel in December of that year.
