Paul Wesley (born October 23, 1982) is an actor, director, and producer from the United States. He is well recognised for his role as Stefan Salvatore on The Vampire Diaries (2009–2017). He’s also noted for his performance in the Tell Me a Story anthology series (2018–2020).
Wesley, then known as Paul Wasilewski, was a prominent cast member of the short-lived CBS television series Wolf Lake in 2001, portraying Luke Cates. He starred in the CBS television film The Russell Girl in 2008 and the ABC Family miniseries Fallen in 2007. Wesley has been in episodes such as 24, 8 Simple Rules, American Dreams, Army Wives, Cane, Everwood, Guiding Light, Smallville, and The O.C., among others.
Since its premiere on The CW in September 2009, Wesley has played Stefan Salvatore in the hit television series The Vampire Diaries. He portrayed Damon Salvatore’s younger brother as well as Elena Gilbert, a 17-year-old love interest in the series. He was nominated for two People’s Choice Awards for his work.
He has appeared in a number of films over the years. Before I Disappear, which he co-starred in and produced in 2014, won the SXSW Film Festival Audience Award and competed in the Venice Film Festival’s “Venice Days” section. Wesley has also run two Represent.com fundraising campaigns to collect money for charity. Wesley’s first campaign raised funds for The Humane Society of the United States by selling a cat-themed t-shirt. Almost 3,000 units were sold during the campaign. Wesley teamed up with The Vampire Diaries co-star Ian Somerhalder for his second campaign, releasing a limited-edition tee with the slogan “Blood Brothers Since 1864” made by a fan. Almost 10,000 shirts were sold as a result of this promotion.

Wesley began directing The Vampire Diaries in the fifth season and began producing the show in season eight. For Freeform, he directed episode 16 of Season 2 of Shadowhunters. Wesley signed a deal with Warner Bros. Television in November 2016 under the label of his newly formed production company, Citizen Media, to produce four new television shows, including Confessions of a Drug-Addicted High School Teacher, written by Jason Smith; Pecos, written by Shawn Christensen; Finding Natalie, written by Hilary Bettis; and Shanghai Summer, written by Oanh Huynh
Wesley had joined the main cast of the CBS All Access TV series Tell Me a Story, which was produced by Kevin Williamson, in June 2018. Wesley has a development deal with Kapital Entertainment right now. Shadowhunters and Roswell, New Mexico are among his other network television directing credits.
