Gopi made the headlines in 2015 when he gave his help to Maharashtra’s controversial beef ban while talking to the media. He said he never tasted beef in his life, and he never cooked it in his home, and nobody at home eats beef. He also added that if such a ban were to come to the state, he would obey the government. However, a new video appeared online, capturing Gopi, talking on a radio show, and talking about his weight gain after a recent trip to Zurich. He shared how he had eaten beef continuously for four days, when only pork and beef were available, which led him to gain weight.

Film Career:

Suresh Gopi played a minor role in Odayil Ninnu as a child artist (1965). Later, he made his adult acting debut in T through a small role as a prospective groom. After playing various villains and supporting roles throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s, Suresh Gopi broke through Shaji Kailas’ Thalastaanam (1992) written by Renji Panicker.

Shaji and Renji’s combination films made Suresh Gopi a night-time star in the 1990s, especially through police and military roles. Popular films Ekalavyan (1993), Mafia (1993), Commissioner (1994) along with Lelam (1997) and Pathram (1999) have given Suresh Gopi the status of a new Malayalam superstar after Mohanlal and Mammootty, even though his fanbase has declined over the years following his self-imposed industry sabbatical. Kannan Perumalayan’s role in Jayaraj’s Kaliyattam (1997) won him the National Film Award for Best Actor and the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor.

Meena found that Mr. Gopi had violated the model of conduct (MCC). He lost to Congress candidate T.N. in this election. Prathapan took third place behind CPI candidate Rajaji Mathew Thomas, who came second.

During the 2020 elections to the Kerala local body, Gopi advised local BJP representatives of his position on accepting people’s requests. He said that people from all over Kerala would write to him about different requests, and he would only accept letters of request from individuals if they were attached to letters of recommendation from the BJP District Party Chiefs.
