Tejashwi Yadav is an Indian politician from Bihar state. He is the youngest of the nine children of Lalu Yadav, an Indian politician.

Tejashwi Yadav Biography:

Tejashwi Yadav was born on November 9, 1989, in Gopalganj, Bihar. His full name is Tejashwi Prasad Yadav. He is also known by the name of Tarun. His zodiac sign is Sagittarius. Tejashwi started his schooling in Patna for a few years and then went to Delhi for further education. He studied at Delhi Public School in Hemant Vihar till class 5 and then till class 8 at DPS, RK Puram.

Tejashwi was a middle school student. He was drawn to cricket early in his childhood. He was part of the cricket team at the school and represented the team in different tournaments. Cricket enthusiast, Tejashwi Yadav dropped out of school in the middle of the ninth class to make a full-time cricket career. He then represented Delhi’s state cricket team in a variety of tournaments and also played Jharkhand’s Ranji Trophy season. After failing to make a mark in cricket, Tejashwi Yadav gave up the sport and decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and get into politics.

He has an elder brother, Tej Pratap Yadav (a politician), and seven sisters, Misa Bharti (a politician), Rohini Acharya, Chanda Singh, Ragini Yadav, Hema Yadav, Anushka Rao, and Raj Laxmi.

Career:

Cricket Career:

While playing for Delhi under 19 Team Tejashwi was signed by Delhi Daredevils ahead of IPL 2009. He remained a part of the Delhi Daredevils squad for four seasons from 2009 to 2012; however, he was not able to play a single game in all four seasons of the IPL.

He played a couple of domestic cricket matches for Jharkhand in Ranji Trophy 2009, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2009, and Vijay Hazare Trophy 2010. In seven domestic games Tejashwi played in his entire cricket career, he scored only 37 runs and picked a wicket. On 16 February 2010, Tejashwi played his last professional cricket match between Jharkhand and Tripura at Cuttack.

Political Career:

Seeing that he had no chance of a cricket career, politics was probably the next possible destination for Tejashwi Yadav. He made his first public address back in 2010, campaigning for RJD before the 2010 elections to the Bihar Legislative Assembly. In the 2015 elections to the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi, at the age of 26, successfully contested and won his first electorate in the Raghopur Assembly. His party, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), won 81 seats and collided with JD (U) with 70 seats. Following the establishment of the RJD-JDU in Bihar in 2015, Tejashwi Yadav was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar.

In 2017, CBI filed a “land for hotel” scam case against Tejashwi Yadav and his family members, including Father Lalu Yada and Mother Rabri Devi. The case led to the fall of the RJD-JDU in 2017, as the JD (U) resigned its support from the RJD and set up a new government with the BJP in Bihar. Tejashwi served as Deputy CM of Bihar from November 2015 to July 2017. He blamed the BJP government in the center for playing vendetta politics by including his name in the corruption case that dates back to 2004 Rubbering charges against him, he said, “They are bringing cases of 2004 against me. How could I be a 13 or 14-year-old criminal, I didn’t have a moonch (moustache) at that time! ”

Tejashwi Yadav became the youngest opposition leader in India at the age of 27. He remained the leader of the opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly from 2017 to 2020. In the 2020 elections to the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav won the seat of the Bihar Raghopur Assembly by a margin of 38,000 votes. His party, RJD, emerged as the largest single party in the state; however, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) retained power by winning majority seats.

Controversies:

1. On New Year’s Eve 2008, Tejashwi Yadav and his brother, Tej Pratap Yadav, were reportedly beaten by random people for eve-teasing a girl at a party in Delhi.

2. On 16 April 2017, the Central Bureau of Investigation filed an allegation against Tejashwi Yadav, Lalu Yadav, and Rabri Yadav for corruption in the award of a contract for the maintenance of two IRCTC hotels to a private company. The charges against them included criminal conspiracy (120-B), fraud (420) under the IPC, and corruption. Later, the Delhi court granted bail to all three of them in the case.

3. On 5 October 2020, the F.I.R. was brought against Tejashwi Yadav, his brother Tej Pratap Yadav, and four others accused of murdering a former RJD leader, Shakti Mallik.
