Tracy Jamal Morgan is a stand-up comedian, actor, producer, and author who was born in the United States of America on November 10, 1968. Morgan is most well-known for his work in television, notably his stint as a cast member on the NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live from 1996 to 2003 and his role as Tracy Jordan in the NBC sitcom 30 Rock from 2006 to 2013, both of which earned him a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award. Morgan’s work on television has made him one of the most well-known comedians in the world. In addition, he played the role of Tray Barker in the comedy series The Last O.G. on TBS.

Morgan was born in Brooklyn on November 10, 1968, and grew up in the Marlboro Houses and Tompkins Houses in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of that borough. He is the second of five children to be born to Alicia Morgan (née Warden), a homemaker, and Jimmy Morgan, a musician who abandoned the family when Morgan was six years old. His father gave Tracy that name in remembrance of a buddy and fellow soldier called Tracy, who served in the same unit as his father in Vietnam and was subsequently killed in combat.

Morgan went to DeWitt Clinton High School after being bullied as a youngster. In 1985, when he was 17 years old and in his final year of high school, he discovered that his father had gotten HIV by using hypodermic needles. His father passed away in January 1987 at the age of 38. Morgan married his longtime girlfriend Sabina that same year, and he dropped out of high school to take care of his sick father. While living on welfare and selling crack cocaine with limited success, Morgan began making money by performing comedy on the streets after his best friend was killed.

He said in 2009: “He would say to me, ‘Yo, Tracy, man, you should be doing comedy.’ A week later, he was murdered. And that, for me, was like my Vietnam. I had my survival guilt when I started to achieve success. Why did I make it out, and some guys didn’t? Morgan embarked on a stand-up comedy career, successfully enough to ” finally move to a friendly community in [The Bronx neighborhood of] Riverdale, from a run-down apartment next to Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

During his acceptance speech for the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 2023 Golden Globes, Tracy Morgan made Eddie Murphy the target of a joke by making fun of the fact that he had a staggering ten children. During an emotional speech in which the comedian talked about Murphy’s lengthy career accomplishments, Morgan addressed one of his most important jobs: being a dad. The “Daddy Day Care” star shares ten children with five women: Eric, 33, with ex Paulette McNeely; Bria, 33. Myles, 30. Shayne, 28, Zola, 23, and Bella, 20, with ex-wife Nicole Murphy; Christian, 32, with ex Tamara Hood; Angel, 15, with ex Melanie “Mel B” Brown; and Izzy, 6, and Max, 4, with Butcher.

The former “Saturday Night Live” cast member, who suffered a traumatic brain injury in a crash involving a Walmart tractor-trailer that killed his friend in 2014, didn’t miss a beat concerning his lawsuit against the retail giant. Murphy didn’t acknowledge the joke about his many children during his speech, but he did thank them for their “love and support” before taking a jab at Will Smith and Chris Rock’s infamous Oscars slap.

Even after Conan O’Brien stepped down as host of his late-night talk show, Tracy Morgan has continued to be a hit with his late-night appearances. The star of Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock appeared on Last Night with Seth Meyers last night to promote the musical Holiday comedy Spirited. The film is an amped-up rendition of A Christmas Carol and stars Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds.

As is traditional, whenever Morgan visits a talk show, the stand-up veteran instantly takes control of the evening and shoves Meyers into the backseat. As his host gazed on helplessly, Morgan railed on the band, crowned himself King of New York, and lectured about otherworldly topics. Yeah, and at one time or another, he referenced a movie.

Morgan was gracious enough to break several election results overlooked in midterm election coverage this past week. One of these outcomes was the revelation that the star of “The Last O.G.” had won their race. It is currently considered the King of Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx. On the other hand, Staten Island is not under Morgan’s control since, as the saying goes, “that’s Wu-domain.” Tang’s

The comedian and monarch, born in Brooklyn, waxed poetic about his home city, New York City, quoting John Lennon as he called New York “Rome” and “The Center of the Universe.” He then detailed his plan to institute an NFL-wide policy dictating that all football players will eat “pork, beans, and franks” for lunch, replacing any nutritionist-recommended meals with “cowboy food.” The comedian and monarch were born in Brooklyn.

Several people in the Late Night audience did not get the night’s darkest joke, which was intended to be humorous. After playing a scene from Spirited in which Morgan appeared as the Ghost of Christmas Future, Meyers posed the question to Morgan as to whether or not he believed in the existence of ghosts. Morgan said, “Only if they’ve been struck by Walmart trucks,” in response to the question.

Morgan was involved in a fatal six-vehicle accident in 2014 when a tractor-trailer operated by Walmart struck a sprinter van carrying the comedian and members of his entourage. This collision resulted in the death of Morgan’s longtime friend and collaborator, James McNair, better known as Jimmy Mack. The accident involved a total of six vehicles.

As a result of the accident, Morgan incurred significant injuries. Given the lengthy and challenging road to recovery that lay ahead, it seemed as though the comic would not be able to perform stand-up for some time. Morgan’s first special after the tragedy was titled Staying Alive and focused on the traumatic experience and the lengthy road to recovery he underwent after the crash.

The prolific comic is, happily, back to his old tricks with some hilarious new twists on the troubled marriage of Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus and the discovery that Rudolph’s bright red nose is due to his cocaine addiction. We can only hope this is a sample of what Morgan has in store for us in Spirited; the Ghost of Christmas Future had better have some interesting perspectives on Frosty the Snowman.

After working there until 2003, he went on to star in his show with the same name, which aired on NBC for a single season from 2003–2004. Additionally, he made guest appearances in various movies and television shows, including everything from Half Baked to Squidbillies, Crank Yankers to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and more.

Then there’s his part in 30 Rock, which ran from 2006 until 2013 on NBC. Tina Fey, a fellow alumna of Saturday Night Live, carefully constructed the role of Tracy Jordan for him. More than anything else, his work as Tracy Jordan will live on forever in the form of many clips and memes. If that moment had ended his comedy career, he would have been remembered as a comedic great throughout history. And there was a perfect chance of it happening.

Once Morgan’s Sprinter bus was involved in an accident on the New Jersey Turnpike on June 7, 2014, practically all the jokes were immediately discontinued. One passenger died at the scene, and five others, including Morgan, were sent to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Even though the collision was not his fault, he had severe injuries, including a fractured nose, leg, and ribs and traumatic brain damage.

After the accident, Morgan was not captured on camera for almost an entire year. It took Morgan a very long time to feel comfortable in public, much alone on stage, but he showed tremendous bravery in bringing fans through this journey. His most recent role on television was that of Tray Barker, which he played in the sitcom The Last O.G., which ran for four seasons from 2018 to 2021. The show is unjustly undervalued.
