Zulfiqar Ahmad Naqshbandi is a famous Scholar. Once this age ended, there was an unexpected void in our lives since the previous generation of intellectuals had moved on to their final destinations. And then, a time came when such virtuous individuals became more uncommon.
Yet, the promise made by Allah SWT will be kept: He would never abandon the believers of his most beloved prophet (pbuh). And indeed, this happened. Nobody knows whose sigh it was or whose prayers were answered, but this country saw a crescent rise from the city of Jhang in West Punjab, and in a very short amount of time, it illuminated the whole horizon. No one knows who sighed or who prayed for this to happen. The hearts’ hunger was quenched as their hopelessness transformed into a sense of possibility. Hazrat Moulana Hafiz Zulfiqar Ahmed Naqshbandi Mujaddadi is associated with this significant event in Islamic history.
Our Hazrat Jee was born on April 1st, 1953, in Jhang (Punjab, Pakistan). The recital of the Quran was one of the things his father used to teach for the benefit of Allah the Highest. He was a man of profound devoutness and morality. At the break of dawn, he would begin his day by reciting between three and four jazz of the Holy Quran. Even his mother was a devout and religious person. Hazrat Jee had written in his book about his mother that he would sleep on his mother’s bed when he was three years old.
In the latter hours of the night, I do not find her on the bed, so I get up to look for her, and I find her kneeling on a prayer mat by my head, busily reciting the salatul Tahajjud prayer. I hated what I was doing to wait for her to finish praying. After the prayers, she implores a stronger voice while shedding tears. …… In all my years of attending tahajjud, I have never seen someone cry more than my mother. When she prays using my name, I am immediately comforted and can go back to sleep.
The influence of his older brother, Mr. Malik Ahmed Ali, was significant throughout his formative years of study. Because of his patronage, which was both rigorous and caring, he was protected from the companionship and society of mischievous youths. Since he was a little boy, when he was in the fifth grade, he has been actively involved in the affairs of Tableeghi Jamaat. This link became much more robust over time.
In addition to attending school and college, he extended his education by reading Arabic and Persian novels. After finishing his Bachelor of Science, he studied a few Hadith volumes. At this time, he looked stories such as Tazkiratul Oliya, Ghaniyatul Talibeen, and Kashful Mahjoob. These writings activated his latent desire to accept Allah swt, which had been there all along. He began going to many Khanqahs, but in his own words, he said, “I went back with empty hands due to a lack of following the way of the prophet (pbuh) and regularity in newly formed activities” (Bidaat).
In these circumstances, a narrative that Sheikhu Hadiths Hazrat Moulana Zakarya told (ra) about Hazrat Sri Saqti (ra) and Jarjani affected him greatly. In this tale, Jarjani calculates how much time a person spends chewing bread and concludes that this amount of time might be saved and used to recite “Subhan Allah” seventy times. Because of this, Jarjani quit eating bread and now relies on just a few grains of dried-up barley for sustenance. Because of this tale’s impact on Hazrat Jee’s sensitive temperament, he began chanting the Subhan Allah around the clock, regardless of the circumstances.
This caused a dramatic decrease in the amount of time Hazrat Jee spent sleeping, eating, and conversing. This young Muslim remained in this state for two and a half years. During that time, he offered the daily prayer of salat ul Hajat to Allah (swt), supplicating, “O my Lord, please guide me to the company of a righteous and perfect spiritual instructor.”
How is it possible for Allah to deny a request that comes from the depths of one’s heart? ‘One night in 1971, something extraordinary took place. On one of the evenings that Hazrat Jee was spending in the masjid with the traveling members of Tableeghi Jamaat. After finishing the prayers of Tahajjud, there was still one hour remaining, so he slept there on the praying mat. In his dream, he saw Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (razi Allah) place two fingers on Hazrat Jee’s heart while reciting Allah, Allah, and Allah. He jolted himself awake and felt a tremor throughout his body.
The rapid yet gentle beating of the heart could be felt in the chest. As it grew intolerable, he wrapped a handkerchief more tightly about his chest. This state lasted for several days; whenever he opened his chest, his heart would start pounding loudly. As a result, prayers, recitations, and commemorations were filled with happiness.
He addressed this problem with a fellow student at the university, Mr. Mohammad Ameen, who then introduced him to Hazrat sheikh Wajeehuddin. Hazrat sheikh Wajeehuddin then urged Hazrat Jee to write to perfect Waliullah Hazrat Babu jee Abdullah. He was subsequently instructed to do so (ra). When a few days passed, he said, “Your heart has become continually running.”
