Christopher Wallace is a well-known American journalist and television news anchor who is best known as the host of the Fox News Sunday morning chat programme, which airs on the Fox network every Sunday morning. Chris Wallace, the son of well-known American journalist and media personality Mike Wallace, is sometimes likened to his father because of his demanding and wide-ranging interview style. During the 1964 Republican National Convention, while still in his teens, he aided Walter Cronkite on the sidelines and went on to work as a national correspondent for ‘The Boston Globe.’ Later in his career, he transitioned to television reporting, where he served as a White House reporter for NBC.

Later, he worked as a weekend anchor for NBC Nightly News, a host for NBC News Presents, an anchor for NBC News Presents, and an anchor for NBC News Presents: Primetime Thursday and NBC Nightline. Since 2003, he has garnered global recognition as the anchor of ‘Fox News Sunday.’ President Barack Obama, Vladimir Putin, and Donald Trump have all been interviewed on the show, and Chris was chosen to moderate the final 2016 United States presidential debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, as well as the first 2020 United States presidential debate between President Trump and Vice President Joe Biden. Chris has garnered a number of honours, including three Emmy Awards and a Peabody Award, among others.

Christopher Wallace was born on October 12, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, United States, to Mike Wallace and his first wife, Norma Kaphan, who came from a Jewish family. Mike and Norma named their son Christopher since he was born on Columbus Day. Among his many accomplishments as a journalist, actor, game show presenter, and media personality, Mike was best known as one of the original journalists for CBS’ “60 Minutes.” When Chris was a year old, Mike and Norma decided to divorce. He was raised by his mother and stepfather, Bill Leonard, who went on to become the President of CBS News in the 1980s and 1990s.

In 1962, Chris’ connection with Mike began to blossom when he lost his older brother Peter in a mountain climbing accident in Greece. Chris and Mike became friends after that.

Chris attended the Hotchkiss School for Boys. Leonard introduced him to political journalism while he was in his twenties, when he was still in his teens. During the 1964 Republican National Convention, he served as Walter Cronkite’s assistant, which he enjoyed immensely. Chris got his start in radio reporting while attending Harvard College, when he worked for WHRB, a station run entirely by Harvard students.

Chris was admitted into Yale Law School, but he chose to work as a national correspondent for the American daily newspaper ‘The Boston Globe’ instead. His manager characterised him as a “aggressive and ambitious reporter” when he was working there. After seeing the influence that television had on news coverage of the 1972 Republican National Convention, he decided to devote his career to broadcast journalism. He was employed at WBBM-TV for a period of time in the early 1970s.

In 1975, he began his network journalistic career with NBC, where he remained until his retirement in 2008. NBC News Political Correspondent for 14 years, he began his career as a reporter for WNBC-TV in New York City before being moved to the NBC Washington office, where he worked as a political correspondent for the network. The following year, he joined Bryant Gumbel and Jane Pauley as co-anchor and news reader for NBC’s ‘Today’ show in Washington. NBC promoted him to top White House reporter in the same year, and he continued in that position until 1989.

During his tenure as anchor of the Sunday version of “NBC Nightly News” from 1982 to 1984 and again from 1986 to 1987, as well as moderator of “Meet the Press” from 1987 to 1988, he was nominated for two Emmy Awards. On May 18, 1985, at Camp David, he had a joint interview with President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan for an NBC News programme. He had interviews with a variety of political figures, including President Donald Trump, while covering the Republican National Convention for NBC News in 1988.

Chris left NBC and went to work for ABC starting in 1989. His responsibilities there included serving as senior reporter for ‘Primetime Thursday’ and hosting ‘Nightline’ on occasion. During the Persian Gulf War in 1991, he covered the Iraqi Scud missile assaults from Tel Aviv, which he wrote about. Nominations for the News and Documentary Emmy Awards were given to him for his reporting on the Primetime Live segment: Hope Sells.

In 2003, he left ABC to join Fox News, where he took over for Tony Snow as anchor of the Sunday morning chat programme ‘Fox News Sunday,’ which he hosted until his departure. His reputation as a journalist was further enhanced by his association with Fox News, which chairman Roger Ailes referred to as “one of the top interviewers in the industry.” During his 17 years at FOX, Chris was a part of practically every important political event that occurred, and he has also conducted interviews with a variety of dignitaries and US officials. The network was able to get its first interview with President Barack Obama in February 2009, among other accomplishments.

Chris, Special Report anchor Bret Baier, and ‘The Kelly File’ anchor Megyn Kelly served as moderators for the 2016 Republican Party Presidential debate, which aired on Fox News on March 3, 2016. Chris was joined by Special Report anchor Bret Baier and ‘The Kelly File’ anchor Megyn Kelly.

Chris became the first Fox News anchor to serve as a moderator in a presidential debate during the general election as a result of this. After his aggressive questioning of both Trump and Clinton at the debate hosted at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, on October 19, 2016, Chris received accolades from all sides of the political aisle for his performance. Chris was the one who conducted the first interview with Donald Trump after he was elected President of the United States in 2017.

As a result of his July 2018 interview with President Vladimir Putin, he was honoured with the first News and Documentary Emmy Award in Fox News history for Outstanding Live Interview, the first News and Documentary Emmy Award ever given by the network. Chris has garnered a number of other honours throughout the years, including two further News & Documentary Emmy Awards and a Peabody Award, among others.

He covered the Supreme Court proceedings of Brett Kavanaugh in September 2018, during which he was accused of sexually assaulting many women, including Christine Blasey Ford, and was confirmed. While they were both in high school, the latter claimed that Kavanaugh sexually attacked her while they were together. Chris described Ford’s evidence as “very emotional, really honest, and quite believable.” Chris also praised Ford’s performance. In response to conservative pundits’ disapproval of her testimony, Chris stated that it would be a mistake to dismiss her and the seriousness of her allegation because there are many teenage girls who do not tell such stories to a large number of people and thus should not be disregarded when such issues arise in the future.

In July 2019, he appeared on ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’ to promote the 2019 biographical documentary film ‘Mike Wallace Is Here,’ which was based on his father’s life. It attracted notice when he got into a heated debate with American conservative commentator Katie Pavlich on January 27, 2020, on Fox News Sunday on whether more witnesses should be allowed to testify during Donald Trump’s impeachment trial in the Senate the following year. Furthermore, his interview with President Donald Trump outside the White House on July 19, 2020, garnered significant social media attention and news attention, during which he held the President accountable and fact-checked the latter in real time, garnered considerable attention and news attention.

He was once again chosen by the Commission on Presidential Debates to moderate the first 2020 United States presidential debate, which will be held on September 29, 2020, at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, and will pit President Donald Trump against former Vice President Joe Biden. Despite President Trump’s repeated interruptions, Chris described the discussion as “chaotic.” Chris attempted to regain control and preserve order multiple times during the debate, but failed.

On November 3, that year, he was a part of Fox News’ Election Night coverage of the 2020 United States presidential election, which was hosted by Martha McCallum and Bret Baier. The books ‘First Lady: A Portrait of Nancy Reagan’ (1986) and ‘Character: Profiles in President Courage’ (2004) were written by Chris, and the book ‘Countdown 1945: The Extraordinary Story of the Atomic Bomb and the 116 Days That Changed the World’ (2020) was written in collaboration with Mitch Weiss.
