As a boy, he spent his summers on his grandfather’s Texas ranch, building pipes, vaccinating livestock, and repairing windmills. He attended Miami Palmetto Senior High School and graduated from Princeton University with a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

He worked on Wall Street for firms such as Fitel, Bankers Trust, and New York-based D. E. Shaw & Co. He became D. E. Shaw & Co.’s youngest Vice President. Despite his achievements, he chose to leave the finance industry. He started Amazon.com, an online book retailer, and later added features including one-click buying, user reviews, and order verification via e-mail. He expanded the line to include clothing, CDs, toys, jewelry, watches, electronics, and shoes.

He is continually updating his website and adding new features for his customers. His childhood desire for space travel inspired him to create Blue Origin, an aerospace business developing technology to enable commercial space travel. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Bezos is one of the world’s wealthiest persons, with an estimated net worth of $28 billion.

Jeff Bezos was born to Jacklyn Gise and Ted Jorgensen on January 12, 1964. His mother’s grandparents were settlers in Texas who through decades established a 25,000-acre ranch near Cotulla.

Bezos’ mother married his father while she was a teenager. Following the dissolution of her marriage to Ted Jorgensen, she married Miguel Bezos, a Cuban immigrant who attended the University of Albuquerque.

Miguel Bezos adopted Jeff formally following their marriage. The family then relocated to Houston, Texas, where Miguel worked for Exxon as an engineer. Jeff was a fourth- and sixth-grader at River Oaks Elementary School in Houston. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his family relocated to Miami, Florida. He was a senior high school student at Miami Palmetto Senior High School. He also attended the University of Florida’s Student Science Training Program, where he earned a Silver Knight Award in 1982.

He founded his first business venture, the Dream Institute, while still in high school. The Dream Institute is an educational summer camp for fourth, fifth, and sixth graders. He graduated as valedictorian of his high school.

In 1982, he enrolled at Princeton University to study computer science. At Princeton, he was elected to the honor societies Phi Beta Kappa and Tau Beta Pi.

He used to work during the summer. In June 1984, he accepted a summer position as a Programmer/Analyst in Norway, and the following year, he worked on improving an IBM program in California.

He was the President of the Students for the Exploration and Development of Space at Princeton. He earned a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in 1986, summa cum laude.

In 1990, he joined D. E. Shaw & Co. in New York. He became the country’s youngest Vice President. Although his finance position was incredibly profitable, he opted to leave after four years.

He created Amazon.com, an online bookshop, in 1995. Market analysts initially doubted its success in comparison to traditional brick-and-mortar stores, but he quickly outpaced his competitors. The company went public in 1997.

Amazon began diversifying its portfolio over time. It began selling CDs and films in 1998 and expanded to add clothing in 2002. Amazon founded A9 in 2003 as a commercial search engine focused on e-commerce websites. Additionally, he developed an online athletic goods business with over 3,000 distinct brands.

Amazon introduced the Kindle, a handheld electronic reading device, in 2007. The Kindle utilizes E-Ink to produce text with customizable font size for the convenience of reading.

Amazon made a contract with The Wylie Agency in 2010 to acquire the digital rights to authors’ works. Publishers felt aggrieved about being skipped. However, readership and sales soared, resulting in a win-win situation for authors.

Bezos unveiled the Kindle Fire, a color touch-screen tiny tablet computer, to compete with Apple’s iPad. Amazon added comfort and convenience to e-readers with the Kindle Paperwhite, which features illuminated touchscreens that permit reading in the dark.

Apart from Amazon Local, LivingSocial, and Amazon Web Services, he founded Amazon Studios. Amazon intends to distribute the television shows via its online video service.

On August 5, 2013, he paid $250 million in cash for The Washington Post and other magazines linked with The Washington Post Co., bringing the Graham family’s four-generation reign to an end.

Bezos announced an experimental program dubbed Amazon Prime Air in December 2013 that uses drones capable of carrying up to 5 pounds and traveling up to 10 miles to provide delivery services to consumers.

Bezos was instrumental in the invention and expansion of e-commerce. In 1995, he created Amazon.com, an online book retailer. By providing unique features like as one-click shopping, customer evaluations, and e-mail order verification, the company ushered in a revolution in online shopping.

In 2008, Carnegie Mellon University bestowed upon Bezos an honorary doctorate in Science and Technology. He was also named one of America’s top leaders by US News & World Report.

Bezos and Gregg Zehr received an Innovation Award from The Economist in 2011 for the Amazon Kindle. He was selected Fortune’s Businessperson of the Year the following year.

In December 2012, the National Retail Federation declared Amazon the year’s top retailer and presented him with the Gold Medal Award, which is given to an individual who has distinguished himself in the sector.

While still in high school, Bezos founded the Dream Institute, a centre dedicated to encouraging young students’ innovative thinking. After earning degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from Princeton University in 1986, he worked in a variety of positions until joining the New York investment bank D.E. Shaw & Co. in 1990. Soon after being named senior vice president – the firm’s youngest — Bezos was tasked with analysing the financial opportunities presented by the Internet. Its immense potential—Web usage was rising at a rate of more than 2,000 per cent per year at the time—inspired his entrepreneurial spirit. In 1994, he resigned from D.E. Shaw and relocated to Seattle, Washington, with the intention of opening a virtual bookstore. Bezos began developing the site’s software in his garage with a handful of employees. Amazon, named after a river in South America, sold its first book in July 1995.

Amazon quickly ascended to the top of the e-commerce food chain. The site, which was accessible 24 hours a day, was user-friendly, encouraging visitors to post their own book reviews and providing discounts, personalised recommendations, and searches for out-of-print books. In 1999, Bezos expanded the site’s functionality by adding auctions and investing in additional virtual storefronts. Amazon’s success prompted other merchants, including large book chains, to open online stores.
